2018 Top 4

I know he's been playing U20s but I'm really impressed with young Anderson and think he could well be our best winger within the next year and needs the opportunities lest he look elsewhere. The kid may need to improve his goal kicking but he's a tough, fast, hard running player who has a good swerve and makes the right decisions in his play more often than Uate or Taufua. He's also one who makes few mistakes and is equally competent at full back. Good defender and gets involved. I'd have him in firsts early next season.

I can't in any world justify cutting a 21 year old centre in his first year of top grade, who showed the sort of talent he has against Penrith in Rd 26 and most of the first half of our season, in Kelly.

Why is he even thrown up in this discussion? He's one year out of 20's and has obvious talent.

Finals football exposed the holes we need to fill to be a more dominant side
The same side will give us similar results . Every other team will be recruiting quality players to improve and stay competitive . There is no substitute for pace and power in dominating games and winning against the odds

Talent is a substitute. The Broncos lack plenty of power up front, however they're attack can be classy and their defence can be pretty decent at times. The cowboys lack both, but have talent and grit, of which allowed them to topple the sharks yesterday.

I think it's best to balance all these out. Power, Speed, Grit and Talent. We need a little more power and a little more grit.

I agree. When we are going forward we look like scoring on every set!

Look at Melbourne and Roosters and their bench and their forwards. So much power and go forward. That's all i think we need. Long term 5/8 of course and just some willing , promising forwards with some footwork before the line.

When I look across the park at the team we now have, I see a great team in development.

Defensive issues have been cited in the backline especially aimed at young Kelly. Too many mistakes are being made by Tom T.. The wingers have dropsy. Walker is inconsistent and gets emotionally affected. Green is getting older. DCE needs a ball playing 5/8. Yet this backline, despite the limitations of some of our forward power and consistency, has been one of, if not the most potent attacking backlines in the competition. The Bronks, the Storm have hot backlines but the Storm are there because of their forward power. The backline we have is potentially outstanding. The problems mentioned regarding the full back and centres will be rectified. They are young and developing. Uate and Taufua when on song are devastating, but they need catching practice over and over again. We have two young outstanding backline stars in Tom Wright and Jade Anderson who could cover brilliantly on the wings and full back. Parker could be our next Brown, only more effective covering backline and forwards. We have one of the best two or three halves in the game. Only 5/8 needs to be looked at for the long term, but for now he is an ideal link.

The forwards have a couple of test rating players in Jake T, Taupau, Api. There are two rising stars in Sironen and AFB and Perrett may join those two in time. Winterstein is a solid worker. Sipley and one or two rising juniors may strengthen our stocks. The basic structure is there. Just needs enhancing. When this team was on the boil this year, they could beat anyone.

All we really need is a couple of talented established forward stars and this team will be ready to make a move for the premiership. Top 4 next year if we hold onto our backline and add a bit more starch to the forwards. We dont have to cull much at all. Just get some good extra forward power and quality backups in reserves for those obvious injury periods that affect every team. Cullen, Hastings and the other Wright add to our depth. And who knows. Young Jamil Hopoate may have finally done his home work and earn a look at first grade as a backup finally...we can only hope there.

I suppose most teams would love to have Dce , the turbo's, marty , walker etc, all we need is the right balance and some more depth. Im still pretty sure we will have a couple of additions added soon .

Who are our other etc's that other top 4 teams would have in their line up ?

Probably a relevant point to reflect back on the team rebuilding and consolidation phase around 2005 or so but it still required a couple of years to develop the necessary team familiarity and consistency to be top four and premiership contenders . Defence does not seem to be a general problem with the present team [ apart from Green being a bit fragile at times ] and it does not seem to lack attacking ability but does seem to have some issues executing effectively under pressure .Still lacks the 80 minute intensity of a Storm and is prone to some unnecessary unforced errors but have shown that they can be more then competitive when every one is switched on and relatively injury free . Warriors still seem keen on Green but does not seem to be many short term alternatives , [ Moylan would be too pricey ], Props and outside backs seem pretty settled , Tom the long term full back custodian and maybe some of the 20 "s outside backs with Schuster to add some depth with the uncertainty over Jorge . Back row acquisiitons may be the area of interest but the general make up of the side is definitely heading in the right direction with every prospect of improving and gaining better results in approaching seasons .

Koroisau would start in most sides e.g. Eels, Sharks, Panthers, Broncos, Cowboys. Siro would also push a starting spot or even start in a couple of top sides. Addin Fonua-Blake would make all the top 4 teams bench with ease, he would start for Parra.
