2018 Top 4

Winterstein and Sironen have to get more involved and play "harder" minutes, Brown is surplus to our needs, Perrett lacks impact other than the odd offload.
Perrett is one that definitely drops in and out of games too much. We replace his position with one of either Tanginoa, Paseka or Sipley and let him earn his position back from reserve grade and he should be better. Need one more experienced forward and maybe a second-rower although I am relatively content with Winterstein unless someone real good shows up

A bit of a distance I suspect in predicting the team to start the 2018 season for the Sea Eagles. Injuries, recruitments, losses of course will make the predictions difficult. But based on what we have now I suspect the team to look something like
1. T. Trbojevic
2. Uate or J. Anderson (goal kicker), Tom Wright, Parker, M. Wright
3. Walker
4. Kelly
5 Taufua or J Anderson, Tom Wright, Parker, M. Wright
6. Green if he stays. Maybe Moylan
7. DCE
8. Lussick or maybe Sipley
9. Api
10. Taupau
11. Sironen
12. ? (new recruit)
13. J. Trbojevic
14. Winterstein
15. AFB
16. Perrett
17 Sipley or new recruit. Maybe Parker as a forward

A must is getting goal kicking winger Anderson into firsts. He looks a top prospect and more creative than M. Wright. We need two more top line forwards. I hope Sipley is good, though he's still young for a prop. Walker, Kelly, AFB will be better with an extra year. If we lose Green we will definitely need a top ball playing replacement. I would also consider Parker as a replacement for the role Brown fills
We definitely need a goal kicker. Unfortunately, Anderson is not that good. He seems a fine player but needs work on his goal kicking.

I agree with Technical coach, we need more from our back row, that is a weakness in our current team. I think the club needs to look at bringing in some faster wingers. Matt Wright is competent but he is not really a threat from kicks, we rarely score from bombs and we defend them sometimes atrociously, We need an 85 percent goal kicker too, so I hope Manly look for a winger or centre who can do this. I would like to see some depth in our halves too. The team is in decent shape and as a rule is pretty young so it is about building on this year. Top 4 has to be a goal and there is a chance. I think the first thing that must happen is the coaching position and that TB needs to be contracted further to build on this. I think what would really help is the NRL get its finger out and conclude this salary cap investigation. The last thing we need is to start next season with a points penalty.

Are we culling players or Silvertails? or both? apart from me who else would we cull from Silvertails? As you say to make the final 4 next year we need to make serious decisions.

Desrotk - really a Doggies fan
Mave - past his best, senility seems to have set in, obsesses over one thread, known to stalk other posters
KiwiEagle - offering up almost nothing, lazy one liner / one dimensional postings, in and out of the game, is the Blake Green of the forum

😉

I feel Parker will be in the team next season.
I'm happy if wingers are Taufua any Uate. I still feel at need a power back rower. Winterstein is okay but we need more.

Kelly is fine, people need to stop worrying, good value and will improve. Not saying he is top notch but i do like his tough go forward ball carries, (even with the every second game he will drop a ball stat----along with Turbo) his defense has been exposed but he has shown he can make good decisions and ball and all tackles.

Confidence player and another good off season should see him strengthen even more.
Ok you just gave me abit of confidence. Its just kellys errors that worry me , like dropping the pill near the line on a few occasions which actually bit us on the arse . But an off season should put him in good stead confidence wise.

If you got a chance to watch sipley a couple of weeks ago, he's going to be a very good pick up .Big and aggressive with good skill .

Do you think jorge might be to slow for wing after surgery? I know he's a power runner but he will drop speed.

Goal kicker needs to be a HUGE priority. We were 10 all near the end but we scored 2 tries. If Cleary played for Manly we would have been up 12-10.

Maybe Jorge to second-row? I don't see why not, his defence would be an issue but worth a go maybe in a trial match. Then Winterstein to take Brown's spot on the bench and Parker to wing? Or maybe a new signing and allow Parker and Kelly to fight it out for centre

I really think the age of wingers the size & shape of Jorge & Uate is over!
Almost no team is carrying wingers like ours.

The inability to play the high ball (either in attack or defence) is a massive weakness.

I think for sure Jorge needs to move into the forwards but will his defensive game cope? I have my doubts.

I think our wingers are fine, the only player i'd replace either one of them with would be a Corey Oates/vunivalu style of player. We score enough points as it is, it's just whether our side can consistently have the intent and forward power that allows our structures to be most effective. So, one or two more experienced forwards who compete physically and some depth for mine

Uate will be there next year , a few mistakes but all in all had a good year . Jorge as far as i know is still unsigned at this stage , so no guarantee he will be there.

Big wingers are a massive part of the game today, and we are certainly not the only team with big wingers although we do have the best big wingers.

Why everyone want jorge out? Before he was injured he was close to most meters in the NRL, same with Uate. We play our best when our back 3 are making meters, thats our platform. I wouldnt want any other 2 wingers for this team, perfect for our side. Sure both make an error off a high ball every 10 or so games but its not that bad.
