2018 Rd 5 - Manly v Titans: - Pre-Game Discussion.

Wish the club would give us an update on Lussick. Not named in firsts or seconds and not injured. Club stated yesterday that they would not release him.
Yeah my guess he playing hard ball and his manager. The Toronto Wolfpack have a lot of cap space after departing moi moi, Ryan bailey and Dave Taylor.
Bit of a same could do with him, that said Paseka in particular been earmarked for firsts for long time while sipley was given promise of nrl time.
Darcy started pre season earmarked as starter but not sure what happened here my guess the non contract offer moving forward gave him the ****s. I say he signed letter of intent with Toronto.
Frank w is my man to hate I nickname him tackle bag as he never moves.

Anderson could play full back. He has played in the position a number of times and has been a danger to the opposition. Of course that's junior grade but he's good under the high ball, fast, tough, a good defender and involves himself. I'd risk him. Tom Wright could do the same. Is more creative, fast and has a good kicking game. Less aggressive than Anderson, but both are tough players.

Anderson cannot play NRL without special dispensation from Toddy as he is not in the top 30.

Ok, I'll bite.. imho, Frank's defense is pretty good he has speed for his size and if he gets more ball than Blake Green fed him last year then he could do the job ... which side will he play though?

Would have to play right side because we'd want to keep the experienced Thompson near Croker.
Speaking of Croker, I reckon he is going very well, plenty to improve upon including with passing accuracy, but he seems to have good fundamentals.
I like a young player with ability who has fought back from serious adversity (eg injury). Similar scenario for Gosiewski.

We could play Lane on RHS - he has spent time there before. But that would leave us skinny for middle forwards.

If Frankenstein does get the gig it'll be interesting to see if Chez actually uses him as a hole runner. Last two years he has been the decoy running expert, hardly hit by Green at all last season. I suspect it'll be more of the same, hitting The Phantom out the back and bypassing Frankie.

It's looking a bit hairy at the moment. I'm just outside Rocky and the rain is getting more regular now. It started around 3 this morning. Wind is about 20kmh with the odd gust. Gladstone is pretty similar at the moment but about 10kmh stronger wind. They're still predicting tomorrow to be the worst day for Glady and reckon it will be pretty much gone by Sunday.

On the flip side, the wind and rain should calm down by Sunday but by 3pm Sunday afternoon, they say the humidity will be around 71%. Combine that with a heavy field and it could be a hard slog, depending on how the field holds up from the previous games. Look out hammies!

I wish this game was at Browne Park instead of Marley. 🙁

Pissing down rain in Gladstone at present with the TC moving south, be interesting to see how the field manages ( can’t imagine it’s like Suncorp and drains in 30 minutes), just been looking at the BOM radar, I’m not in the town!

The modern game sounds to be resembling gridiron. Players who specialise on the right/left side of the field, or stay in the middle. Others are ball runners; hole runners, blockers....
What happens if a right side player scores a try on the left side? Is he dropped the next week for not following the much touted 'game plan'?
How many of our players are instructed to "Play what's in front of you"?
No wonder the Walker Brothers had so much success coaching, throwing out structure and instructing players: "Just score more points than your opponents".

Sorry mate I just don't agree with you, playing safe is the worst thing you can do these days. How many times do teams try to defend their lead by playing safe only to see it erode very quickly, ie the Tigers last night.

Classic example, the 2015 GF. Brisbane led by only 2 points at half time (14-12) and instead of trying to increase it to make sure they won, they virtually shut up shop and tried to defend it.

Think about that. They tried to defend a 2 point lead for 40 minutes.....in a Grand Final.

It didn't work.
