So if the 2 elderly statesmen cannot play and medically retire then 2 others would have to take their place.

If a player genuinely risks chronic long term injury from not being able to medically retire surely the NRL would be exposing themselves to massive amounts of possible compensation.
It's for that reason that I think it's more to do with the club and the players as opposed to NRL guidelines.

Pretty poor attempt at a "Trump" analysis. If it was accurate, all NZ'ers would be deported and gone and then you just make up what players you want in empty slots.

Excellent assessment - there's no point in deluding ourselves any more. Barrett is unproven and a rookie and I'm sick and tired of hearing how much the players love him, who cares? It takes years for a coach to learn the ropes, mature, get the confidence of the players and deliver game plans they will agree with and follow on match day. Until Barrett gets punted we will struggle. It's that simple.

I find it very hard to believe that he hasn't got a contract with us. There is no way he would be doing a grueling pre-season with us if he's not under contract. He would have been snapped up by some club already. He's not entirely hopeless

If that's the case then it's odd the club wouldn't announce it???
And I'd say he wouldn't just sit on the sidelines and get fat... he'd stay fit in the hopes of getting a contract.

The Jerker says he's being shopped around but no takers...? Don't know how much truth you can take with that though.

I love the way Jorge runs the ball. I love the way he can finish off a try. But he does struggle under the highball which is continually exposed and so far I can't see a contract for 2017...? Not to mention all the outside backs we've purchased... and announces.

Yes , Brian Kelly to start in 2018 and signed for two years!!

As for Tafua, he's a bit like Matt Orford , we are still waiting !!

On Kelly - foxsports (if I recall correctly) report said 3yr deal starting next year. Originally a 2yr deal but they promised first grade and he accepted 3yr...?

The following SMH article from March 15 2014, has him contracted to the club to at least the end of 2017. Whether that is correct or not is anyone's guess.
