I'm sure when his $21,153.85 per week goes into his account , while he's rehabbing, he's gutted. That's not including his endorsements, state of origin ($30,000 per match), and Australian teams income.

Calling him names is unacceptable, I agree though.

That being said, $1.1 million per season of our salary cap (or 11.46%) sitting on the sideline, reducing the overall efficiency of the team as a whole is grating to some. It's not a one off. It's every single year.

I'm taking a guess, but would suggest Fainu is being paid a fair sum as well. So I'm suggesting we are paying 2 players circa 17-18% of our cap (or close to one fifth) overall on bodies that don't take the field, leaving us well and truly behind the eight-ball.

Just grinds on people, I guess ?

It's a shame that a coach like Des will have to shoulder the blame for performances based on a sub-par team, for reasons, outside of his control. Or Tom's to be fair. Fainu is his own worst enemy.
We got cap relief on Fainu i thought?

yet another example of horrible retention and recruitment from the club.

Is Turbo a nice guy, absolutely he is..
Should he have been offered a massive contract like he has, 100% not. Terrible decision. Decisions about players futures need to be done clinically, taking into account ALL factors, talent and durability top of the list. Contracts should never be offered with emotional attachments. Decisions need to be about what’s best for the CLUB, not player.

Once again Manly and many fans are being short changed by sh!thouse decisions made by the recruitment team.

Thank **** the NHL is still going. We are going to get stomped with no recognised 9 or 1 (once AGAIN) not in our team. Oh, and a 6 that plays somewhere around 25% of each season.
For me the MLB starts soon. Can't wait.

Actually think this injury may be a positive in the long run. I know that sounds crazy but my take (cock-eyed-optimist) is
  1. Turbo is a smart guy
  2. He is a freak athlete still in the early stage of his career
  3. He is motivated, and genuinely wants to get on the field, for himself, the club, the fans, his team
  4. He has shown he is dedicated - no suggestion he skimps training or takes shortcuts
  5. Therefore - he will now be ultra mindful of the pitfalls of slippery bathrooms (and impromptu sprints when on the piss) and will henceforth do nothing to risk his playing future
Persistence paid off for the likes of Tedesco and Miniciello and I fully expect it will for Turbo, too.

They forgot to give him a training routine for the fu**ing bathroom. Deadset this is bulls**t. How the f**k does he think he can play NRL when he can't even go to the fu**ing bathroom. I don't believe this story at all. Stinks of a bulls**t coverup that been going on for a few weeks.
If it was a cover up that's been going on for a few weeks, then how do you explain his sprint on Saturday night?

Firstly my heart goes out to Our great fullback who has always been a great role model for our club.

Sht happens in life for all of us and when it happens to us we all look for encouragement and support and that is what we should all Give Turbo .

No one should live in denial but every one should at all times remain positive and live in hope

There is hope that Tom will recover successfully . There are no guarantees in life and no one can guarantee that he wont

There is always a positive side to every tough situation and we can always find it if we do not let despair consume us

The ultimate measure of a Premiership winning team is not where it stands in comfort and convenience but where it stands in times of adversity and
Some of the most inspirational wins were made by teams coming from behind and against all odds by digging in and finding away to Victory .

As long as we remain positive we give our our selves every chance to find a way to be Triumphant !!!

For any posters in this forum that have an ear to the Manly support staff involved in either rehab or training, the simplest and most elegant solution for Tom is the "glute/ham raise" exercise. This is not easy, but once mastered is considered to be able to "bullet proof your hamstrings".
Go forth my son.. spread the good news!!!

Doubt it. I think we are eligible to spend some money on a replacement but the NRL doesn't pay for it, unlike all salary cap contracts, so it would be up to the club to foot the bill. And I doubt that has occurred.

Imagine being in the clubs position. Paid a million plus a year and he has had this one injury. Pay to send him to Melbourne I think it was to see specialists, get the best advice money can get which includes USA University consultation. And the player is treating the matter so seriously he is out having running races on the turps.

One can understand the club being more than a little disappointed here.
This is actually a really good point. Mutual obligation needs to exist when there is such a huge investment in a player and their rehab. The running race was a pretty silly idea in hindsight.

However, it is in the interests of the club to rehab him. Is Tom expected to retreat from Training into a cotton wool igloo, and not ever go out? Refrain from any booze? Stop going to the bathroom...?

Many might say it's a sacrifice worth making for the coin he is on. Others will treat it like an impingement on freedom. Reminds me of enforced Lockdown in the way it would divide opinions.

And just watching Tom's body-language when speaking to the media 2 things are clear:
1) The kid is super disappointed. Why wouldn't he be.
2) I don't believe he is giving a truthful account based on his body language when saying it.

It would be nice if the club went back to employing security guards to oversee these lads when they’re out on the tiles, and not of the bathroom variety.

Potentially a lot cheaper than the cost to the club of its star player spending surprise, surprise, more time on the sideline.

Someone mentioned elsewhere in the forum that he should be free to run around like any other normal 24 year old...but...he is being paid 1.1m a year to play football. With that comes a responsibility to be sensible and do the right thing to ensure he is fit to perform for the 1.1m he is paid.

Kids are not allowed to run around on concrete in the school yard because everyone knows it is dangerous...they aren't getting paid anything to be sensible. Tom T is cashed up and the idiot is running around on hard surfaces in the middle of the night with a few beers under the belt.

I think fans have a right to feel a bit ripped off.

If he can do a grade 2 tear in the bathroom...the future is looking bleak for this kid.

If he did it in the corso sprint it might actually be a smaller tear as he didn't appear to pull up much.
6 weeks is for a grade 2, if it's closer to a grade 1 it could be less.

Ok I'm now in the 3rd stage of grief, bargaining. Only anger and depression to go before acceptance.

Good point , and you have to say it was a very poor look for a player on 1.1 million a year.
