The Dogs and their fans have been copping it all week and all I have to say is......long may it continue. Thankfully the mods had the good sense to ban that Mr Delusional dimwit (thus we haven't had to put up with his nonsense) and if anyone deserved to endure a week of Hell, it was him.

How is this news? A couple of young kids got on the piss, and said something to a female reporter, that leveraged off that for recognition. The seasons over, let them go.

It's also a pretty long bow to draw to blame Des for one of his players making a comment when drunk. Seriously, that's an embarrassing statement.

If this were written about Manly players, we'd all be defending it, and the author of the article would be mud to you all.

The bite is unacceptable, and I believe the act was deplorable. I'd be gutted if one of our players did that, but I don't think any of our players are that animalistic.

All that other junk is a waste of time to talk about.

Now, I'm going to have 4-5 beers, and say inappropriate things to my wife, in hopes I can start the engine, because Kiwi's comment about me having no chance last night, was correct :)

Now that is the sort of talk no one needs to hear!

Clearly it is not news, in Ryan’s view.

Interest rates and taxation changes are newsworthy. But, some of the finest male athletes in the land hold women in contempt? Ho hum, that isn’t newsworthy. It is commonplace, and furthermore, totally natural. In Ryan’s view.

Ryan says it was "young kids". Good spin, Ryan. Makes it sound more like harmless playtime. The reality is the words came from young men, old enough to vote, old enough to go to war, and old enough to be tried in court as adults if they break the law.

Ryan says they "said something". The comments alleged include:
"There are some ladies here to stick their heads in your pants".
"S--- me off you dumb dog".
"I want to go and punch you in the face."

The attitude revealed by these comments? Contempt for women. This is the attitude that allows men to threaten and commit violence against women … which occurs every single day of the year.

It is suggested that we should condone these comments on the basis that, after a bit of booze, men will forget to say the politically correct words and their real feelings will come out: “let them go”, it is the most natural thing in the world to feel contempt for women.

It is natural that women are routinely bashed in every community in the land. We all have the internet, anyone can look up some stats on the prevalence of domestic violence against women. Or the percentage of women who are subjected to rape or attempted rape over the course of their lifetime.

I wish you’d look up some of those stats, Ryan. Then come back and repeat your message to women everywhere that these attitudes are harmless fun, and it doesn't matter anyway because "the season's over".

You can bet Des will use the us against the world, siege mentality card next year. Was successful in the past, not sure that will sit to well with Teddy Greenturd tho. Its good to see another club imploding this year rather than us and is just so sweet that it's Des's Dogs.:argue:

If there are already issues in the background, the siege mentality will simply cause more problem.

Greenburg has been vocal about the 'new and improved' Bulldogs and loved to get them in the limelight regularly. Des walks in and cuts away a lot of those opportunities around game time, so the media gets frustrated.

We now get this incident, but where Greenberg will want to drags the club back into the positive spotlight, Des' potential siege mentality works counter to this.

Players will side with the coach and this loss of influence for Greenberg can only end in tears.

During the week one of my mates saw Sandow at the blackjack tables at the Star. Very classy dressed in tracksuit pants. Will he ever learn ? I mean the gambling not the dress sense.

What's wrong with a grown man going to the casino and having a flutter ?

In terms of this issue, you are turning a molehill into Mt Everest

Kiwi Eagle, it can be seen two ways, yes, of course he should be allowed to do whatever he wants. As a player on over half a million dollars, a disasterous year on the field and having several issues that didn't show any leadership within him, I feel it would be better for him to be "showing" a real resolve in positive aspects. Trackies in a casino isn't a look that I'm sure his club would desire. Hitting the "tables" probably wasn't a spur of the moment thing either.

If you read the recent book by AFL player David Schwarz, his whole life was thinking about the punt. Even on GF day in the middle of the G he was thinking about punting that night!! I'm not saying Sandow is a chronic but his dramatic drop of form was for some reason. Being involved in positive parts of lifestyle would give confidence to the club and the fans of him looking to turn things around.

Look, I know this can be argued the other way, it's his life, time, do I know what he does behind the scenes etc but being around "gamblers" alot in my early years definitely tells me some worrying signs.

Alternatively … you are asserting that Mt Everest is simply a pimple.

In one respect this is similar to the Joey Johns racism blow-up at SOO. The point is not to crucify someone who has been caught out 'saying the wrong thing'. The point is to raise awareness - not just among NRL players, but among ourselves and everyone that heard that news - of why certain ideas, language and behaviour might be hurtful, offensive or even downright dangerous.

Johns came out and apologised (only after being outed of course) and has to be given credit for admitting he'd never realised how hurtful his comments could be. And that he was sorry.

The real problem lies not with unsophisticated men who simply parrot ideas they've uncritically absorbed while growing up. The far deeper problem lies with those more educated types who go out of their way to vigorously defend what was said as being harmless, and who assert that the real problem is that the issue shouldn't have been made public. The cover-up merchants.

Mate I'm sure Parra have bigger issues than 1 of their players wearing trackies out !!
True.

Sandow has a gambling problem Kiwi, that's been well documented in the press over here. I'm sure this will all end in tears. And Ryan, you really should stick to knocking back housing loans.

It's a terrible problem for him DSM! The obvious danger is how much he is able to access that money! 550k averages to 10 ish k a week before tax so he probably has an incomes of 6000??? in the hand (wow) every 7 DAYS!! Recently Hindy came out and said how much he has blown. Hundreds of thousands!!
The thing, like Schwarz is where are their head on game day. Schwarz was looking at form guides, racing off to bet every minute of the day. His club kept giving him advances (hmmm) no questions asked! GF day he is thinking of punting!! He re-drew over 1 million on a loan of 250k house!!

Parra must be very worried about their star recruit! Sir Alex Ferguson has research done on a player's lifestyle, conduct etc and maybe that's something that will happen here!

If I were a CEO, I would be banning Mad Monday. The players do NOT have a right to let their hair down and drink to extremes. And I would have it written in to their contracts. The punishment is termination of your contract.

Seriously people, are we all 16 ? Is a man measured by how much alcohol he can consume without falling down or throwing up ?

As a teacher, I can tell you why "muck up" day got banned. Because students can't tell the difference between harmless fun and vandalism.

And we have a "Women in League" round to show how much we appreciate the role of women ? Give me a break. And whether it's the Bulldogs or any other club, an individual has a responsibility for the way they conduct themselves. THAT is what makes you a man.

I am reliably informed that they were his best trackie dacks!

Do you have a Xmas party in your work place?
Is the consumption of alcohol permitted during the Xmas?

Then what is the difference?

Would your name as CEO be Adolf ?

Can you explain how 15 out of the 16 NRL teams can have a mad Monday with little trouble and compared to the guys up until the late 90s the modern day footballers are saints?

Now for a player response on your proposed guidelines

As a player if I played under said club would be doing a SBW and sign a year to year contract so if the club decided to put such ridiculous measures as such it would be easier for me to go to another club.
Senior players would also do the same.
That would then cycle down to all players within the club.

Then as a CEO you'll find out who your true friends are within the club when the club wins wooden spoons in all grades, therefore effecting ticketing, merchandising, membership, sponsorship - after all who'd wanted to follow pay money for losers.and no doubt find your job on the line.

It's a delicate balance you want players happy so they perform to the optimum and are happy to spill blood for the club (strangely something a CEO has rarely done for the club).
But at the same time you can't have blokes running around being an idiot - hence why clubs these days do it in a closed environment with security and the older blokes and guys that don't drink keeping things in check (for us it would Kingy, Kite and Joe).
Under the right environment it still has it's purpose like work Christmas parties and I know teachers (well around my area)still have them and have heard tales of what they get up to and many would make sailors on shore leave blush.

And post season celebrations would continue on after the inevitable upheaval caused by the banning sees you lose your position as CEO.
