Zorba..tells it how it is

Finally someone in the media telling it how it is.. other than Anasta and Zorba the rest are simply to scared to get offside with players and player managers and risk their scoops.

Interesting, but it sounds like the club were happy not to re-sign DCE & probably wouldn’t have had the salary cap to offer him what he wants anyway.

So while Zorba believes DCE’s camp has misled the club, the club comes out with the result they were already preparing for - no DCE post 2025.

Zorba’s guess is no better than any of ours… maybe less because last I heard Manly was actively clearing blokes out of the organisation to reduce the amount of info being fed to Zorba…

He is right about one thing, “Daly likes his money” but, as Fordham rightly points out, “Don’t we all?” lol

If,for argument’s sake,Manly were happy to see DCE walk, what is/was their plan moving forward?Because the rumours of Tom to 6 and Brookes to 7,is quite laughable,Arthur presents no threat and the fact none of the young players are even playing NSW Cup at the moment would suggest they’re a little way from FG.I think it’s a face saving exercise by Mestrov and co

I think your first point is probably the kicker in all this… potentially, the club needed Chez to take a haircut to fit him in because of the cash they have tied up in other players… it is probably why they pushed hard for 1 + 1…

A 2 year contract would carry Daly into 2027…
  • Turbos are signed thru 2026
  • Koula has a player option for 2027
  • Garrick is signed thru 2026

Jake may (may) be a saving but the rest are probably all up for decent upgrades… and that is before you seek to upgrade a squad that has not finished top 4 for a while…

Just a thought.. but if DCE did hang around for 2026 as the club may have hoped.. and bring Walsh in for 2027.. with DCE retiring we could go after Lachie Galvin for 2027..

So maybe Mestrov was thinking 2027
1 Turbo
6 Galvin ( available in 2027 and on the market as of Nov 1 2025)
7 Walsh
14 Brooks. ( Brooks deal runs out on 2027 also)
