If we are to get a fairly big signing i wouldnt want it to be lomax or a specialist centre.
Another back / fullback who fills in on the wing or centre when tom is playing is the missing piece or strengthening hooker

We have a super roster perspective time

Good enough is only good enough for the complacent ones
Striving for excellence is on going and it never reaches a dead end of good enough
As soon as you stop evolving and striving for excellence you become a dead duck

Remember the Good old Days when our Godfather (If you cant beat them buy them ) had 3 international hookers in his squad . Brown , Grey and Max ?
Every good player available on the market the Godfather would always keep upgrading .

Times have changed but shrewd buying from shrewd people like Scott Fulton . You can still get great value players in your squad like Morgan Harper and the higher quality players in your squad the more competitive you become

All players from different cultures is no problem when you have a Good coach that instills camaraderie in the squad .
I think the confidence in your own backyard is what brings success at this time and Lomax though good under high balls and kicking goals, is not a Massive improvement in this area as the Manly 3 and 4 now, have qualities he does not and (fit) the Manly side right now....players appreciate belief from those at the front office and to be perfectly honest, don't rate Lomaz as much as others, so the comparison about Internationals is a way off imo.....I do agree it's important however to always strive for more, but my personal opinion would be a bloke like Brandon Smith would excite me....is a true competitor and due to this Fainu extension and his ability to add energy 100% - that is a signing to improve the squad, unlike lomax who is seen when Illawarra win, but those tough games seems to be Missing In Action and is more a (me) style player which is also not impressive compared to a Brandon Smith (team) player.

Brenko Lee was a passenger in a Farrari at the time
The next year he was upgraded as the team needed to keep evolving and improving
Because as I said striving for excellence is on going
Actually my point was that, salary cap aside, the best team in the competition uses a number of cheaper players that may not be (or are not) the most gifted or the best individual players in their positions, but they are assigned a role by their coach... and they either do it or they do not get picked.

I am of the opinion that this is also the reason why the two highest paid centres in our club are not playing in the centres.

Still on the learning curve but would not underestimate Koula to be vying for a centre spot in i st grade quite soon , and can also play full back . Having 3 mil bucks invested in three players is no doubt going to dictate future signings or upgrades for a while . not doing too bad at present with cap management it would seem and just some fine tuning to come with a few still current unsigned top squad players

The question was whether we'd want Lomax, not whether we'd prefer him to Brandon Smith.
I'm a fan of both players, and if we were to get either it would be a great boost to our premiership hopes in 2022.

I get the question mate and early season would have dived in with a Massive yes....but with the Manly structures and attacking power both edges, really feel we have what's needed to win big games with these outside backs and as much as Lomax adding, if any, is a risk at what has been built with a young team and only gaining momentum each game
The Smith call however, is a definite improvement to the squad, particularly with the Fainu timeline...and the fact he bleeds harder for his team than most in the NRL, which I admire

I can't see Melbourne will let him go.

f I were Manly, I would leave the backline as is. There are no weaknesses worth investing money in. We've also got two elite halves...I'd be looking at David Klemmer as the only player to bring in from outside.
Never been a big Klemmer fan, seems a bit one dimensional, but you make an interesting point. He'd benefit from a change of scene and he'd be motivated at the chance of winning a comp.
As for Lomax, hmm, no thank you .

We are no chance of Brandon Smith. We are again becoming an attractive location for class players. I rate Lomax but it’s all about balancing the squad. Gee I’m glad it’s not my responsibility.

Lomax is a fantastic defender with attacking upside and a better fill in fullback than Garrick. As usual it all comes down to price, probably worth around $550-600k on the open market which puts him out of our price range, unless we can offload Suli at full freight.

I thought klemmer was on more than taupau ?

Klemmer has plenty to offer, as does Kapow....not about to dog what Marty brings as has been very strong this season....in the flip side, Anyone who thinks Klemmer does not make a massive difference in the right side, simply has a different opinion - Klemmer can be a Monster

Unfortunately your "speed above everything else" agenda does not address the need to have a balanced team that fits our available expenditure. You must live in Rooster-Land where endless monies buy whatever you need,
Our current recruitment/retention policy is punching miles above it's monetary weight, and we have an incredibly competitive squad considering the money we have to spend.

Your "point" is worthless because you do not understand what it takes to assemble a competitive NRL roster with whatever monies are available.

Your passion for MWSE is unquestionable but it would be far better directed to backing the coaching and playing squads than continually crapping on about how fast some, over-priced duds are coz it is so tedious.

Balance is key for MWSE.... get on that bandwagon.

Lomax is a great player and a good goal kicker. We have heaps of centers id rather chase tesi nui IF we are looking for an outside back. Guys a gun and wasted at the donkeys. Can play wing center and fb well
