What a ****er, but are we surprised that one of those fruit loop stunt men would do such a thing.........especially in the USA

"However, WWE is concerned with the sensationalistic reporting and speculation being undertaken by some members of the media following the press conference held by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney. During the press conference, the investigating authorities made the following points, all of which run contrary to the media speculation that "roid rage" was a factor in the senseless murders and suicide:

1. The authorities stated that all drugs found in the house were believed to be legal prescriptions.

2. Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoit’s state of mind, and rightly did not do so.

3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.

4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.

5. WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts. "

Who knows, it could well have been, but immediately when something happens regarding a wrestler steroids are always used as the cause no matter what it is

Apparently WWE have removed nearly all of the Benoit stuff from their site now

Have read a few different theories about why he did it, but no-one will ever know i guess

It is ****ed

I could understand it in 1 fit of rage, but it just seems so calculated and drawn out. Is a strange situation for a lot of people i guess, i guy they loved to watch on TV has died, but they can't really feel that gutted about it coz of the things he did.

Benoit used wrestling move to choke son

Police investigators believe pro wrestler Chris Benoit used one of his signature choke-holds to strangle his son.

A spokesman for the Fayette County district attorney's office in Atlanta said seven-year-old Daniel Benoit had internal injuries to his throat but showed no external bruises.

This suggested his father used a move wrestling fans would recognise as a figure-eight lock: the left wrist pushes the head forward into the crook of the right arm which wraps around the throat, with the right hand grabbing the left forearm and so creating a high-pressure 'noose'.

This is not a good look for the WWE.

Here is some more wrestling related deaths:

Owen Hart: Died after falling 24ft into the ring. He was suppose to be lowered into the ring but a release mechanism was triggered and sent Hart plummeting to his death.

'Ravishing' Rick Rude: whose on-stage persona was a ego-maniac ladies' man, was found dead in his bed in 1999 after overdosing on Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) and steroids.

Eddie Guerrero: who was one of Chris Benoit's best friends, died in late 2005 in his hotel room after suffering acute heart failure. Guerrero was 38 when he died, and it is believed he had been clean from drugs and alcohol for four years.

Miss Elizabeth: died of a suspected drug overdose at age 42 in her home, which she shared with fellow wrestler Lex Luger. Police found several prescription drugs and anabolic steroids inside the home. Luger had been arrested on domestic violence charges just two weeks earlier, but he was cleared of any wrongdoing in connection to the death.

Dino Bravo: the self-proclaimed "World's Strongest Man", was shot to death by two men in 1993 as he sat watching television in his living room. Police said they found evidence of Bresciano's involvement in cigarette smuggling at the scene, but to this day the murder remains unsolved.

Sensational Sherri: was found dead by her husband at her mother's residence on June 15 this year. A police investigation is still contuining, and authorities have confirmed that Martel did not die of natural causes — however, they say no foul play is suspected.

Road Warrior Hawk: died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 46. He had battles with alcohol and drugs throughout his career, which were often worked into wrestling entertainment storylines, and he was also an admitted steroids user.

Yokozuna: died at age 34 from a massive heart attack. The Samoan-American wrestler weighed in at close to 300 kilos at the time of his death.

Earthquake: died in 2006 at the age of 42, after a lengthy battle with bladder cancer. He is survived by his wife and three kids.

Andre the Giant: Died of a massive heart attack and was found in hotel room in 1993. He was 7ft 4inches and in excess of 500 pounds.

And the plot apparently thickens...

I like to watch the UFC which is where most of these guys would have started. The UFC is anything but choreographed theatre.
Favourite wrestlers have to be Stone Cold and the Rock.
