Well they managed to find 30 blokes to wear the Vanilla Coke jersey

And we missed out on Tom Gilbert… ooof! :whew::drunk:

Huh?

Redcliffe were established in 1947....same year as Manly.

Absolutely awful Jersey though, it is amazing that can be the outcome of what I'm sure was an extensive process
They have no association to Redcliffe anymore and have been actively trying to re-establish themselves as a new franchise representing the glorious land of The.

There's no soul left of Redcliffe and this is only a year in.

No association to Redcliffe?

Nonsense, Redcliffe hold the NRL licence, they play out of Moreton Bay Stadium, Sponsors the same, Resrve grade Redcliffe.

Like saying Easts were a different club when they where the Sydney Roosters or Canterbury where the Sydney Bulldogs or the Auckland Warriors disolved and a new team entered the league....the NZ Warriors.

The fact that they arent using Redcliffe in front of there name is silly but make no mistake they are theRedcliffe Dolphins.

I don't really agree with much of that tbh. Sure they may legally still be Redcliffe (licensed as) but in 30 years time that'll be pretty meaningless with the way things are heading. The geographic name is gone, the logo is gone, the jerseys and colours deviate a fair amount too. And whether they like it or not they are pretty much stuck playing out of Redcliffe/Moreton Bay stadium until they can upgrade or replace it; which im sure they also plan to do soon.

They needed Redcliffe to win the license but it's pretty evident they want to be much bigger and as a result they are neglecting most of its foundational history (for better or worse). They seem pretty motivated to move beyond their past imo and I don't think they are winning many fans with the way things are going unless they get early success.

It seems 'Easts' to 'Sydney' is a different kettle of fish than Redcliffe to 'The', coupled with a complete rebrand.

NRL newcomers the Dolphins have become the object of ridicule after their 2023 playing jersey was leaked online over the weekend, with some fans saying it's the ugliest one ever.

Still six months away from the club's debut in the NRL, the franchise scored a home goal by reportedly featuring the highly-anticipated foundation jersey on their online shopping website on Sunday afternoon.

It was later taken down, but not before fans began circulating the image on social media.

Put a rainbow on it & it will be worse..

Well we'll agree to disagree then, I think Redcliffe will be back in the name within 5 years.

And think most people can see past some branding to see the club is still Redcliffe

I also reckon Redcliffe will be back in the name in 5 years. Everyone knows they are Redcliffe so it's a little janky for them to have no defined location. It's only a matter of time before we find out what their supporter-base looks like. They could be cutting important ties in drawing local fans by trying to be more of a concept club than a tangible one. But also their following will depend a lot on early performances. A bit of success and the fans will get behind it regardless.

Even Moreton Bay would be a better choice than 'The'. They seem to be making lots of head scratchers in terms of branding decisions.

At least they have Bennett and some decent forwards though

Be interesting to see how that squad goes. Got some alright forwards. No big name back or half yet (Milford's best days well behind him unless some miracle occurs) but some solid enough first graders.

FB - HTF / Issako

Wings - E Lee / Issako (GK) / Jennings

Centres - Lemuelu / B Lee / Jennings / Aitken (depth)

5/8 - Milford / Nikorima

1/2 - O'Sullivan / Nikorima

HK - JMK / Nikorima

Props - Nicholls / J Brom

Edges - RS - Kafusi - LS - Aitken / Gilbert

Lock - K Brom - normally left edge but he has some good ball skills that would translate to 13

Bench Utility - Nikorima / JMK

Bench Middles - Wallace / Ese'ese / Stone

Bench edge - Gilbert / Aitken
