Winning Manly Platform in 2018

First Grader
We all know the middle of the field is where the game is won....dominating that contest in the trenches to lay the platform, allowing the 1,6,7 & 9 to play footy.
The entire momentum is gained through here along with the back 3 producing good carries coming out of trouble is pivotal to winning field position and momentum.
Yes its stating the obvious, but Manly can really stick it to the opposition in the forwards with this big, powerful and mobile pack all season.
Not even being at the trial to see the buildup to the opening 10 minutes where they piled on 3 quick tries and almost a 4th, it is evident the battle through the guts was dominated early as a contest and this is a real positive coming up to the season proper.
The old theory of forwards wins games has merit and this team has the power and better depth than recent years also.
Really enjoy Manly teams over the years, with hardened packs that rip in and belt the opposition and the years Manly have lacked the firepower up front, has been tough to watch at times.
If this pack can get that edge of aggro without the stupid - will be very, very hard to beat Manly down the middle....and if this area is owned - its a long way towards competing with the best....Thompson is not BK - but brings that tiny bit of extra competitiveness we have missed in recent years when the going got tough....and have a feeling these young guns up front are going to ride on the back of his experience and attitude.

I agree we have a great pack and if we can sort out our F***** defence for 80 minutes at a time we will be there at the business end of the season..

I don't blame fans from other clubs being dubious about Sirro's potential because in all fairness they probably haven't been keeping too much of an eye on his progress. But if he continues in a similar vein this year then I feel that's it's not too much of a stretch to say that we've probably got the strongest backrow in the competition.

Agree a back row of Jurbo, Thommo and Sirro is all the O’s you’d need!!

Agreed on sorting out our defence for 80, but we also have to cut out the silly undisciplined penalties. I suppose now that Brown seems to be out of the top grade and Lussick out for 4-6 weeks, I think out 'stupid' penalties will be kept to a minimum.

I agree and I think Sirro is one of the most underrated back rower's in the game.....

Which is fine by me if he's flying under the radar...... All the better for us...
