Good way to boost your pre-match ticket sales by insinuating he'd be there only to come clean the day before that he can't make it.

Sad that such a champion player doesn't get to feel some fan appreciation for his years of legendary performances.

As stated in the article last night,
"The Sea Eagles have worked tirelessly to make arrangements for Matai to be at the game, however in his absence a video package of his wonderful career will be played on the big screen during the match."

So Mr Penn did not actually say he was coming, but that it was a tribute to Stewart, Matai and Ballin and that they worked tirelessly to try and get Matai there.

Matai had other commitments that he could not get out of and as such could not attend

Seems he was coming but now is not, but that could be for a myriad of different reasons, none of them sinister. Still disappointing because he has been such a popular player and would get a massive round of applause if present.

Curious as to why he wouldn't come? If anyone didn't appear I'd have guessed Snake due to his anti-media stance and issues relating to his brother.
Such a pity.
Maybe there'll be a last minute email before kickoff that Snake and Ballin couldn't make it either...

From what I've heard the Wolfman is about as big a fan of the club as Snake and Skivvy are!! A mate in the golden eagles said they approached him about it and while he would've like to hang out with the players he doesn't want to be seen dead at the club or at Brookie!!
