Later Skater! 2 years is an eternity not to be playing Rugby League, esp. at NRL level. .....the game will have changed when he returns.

This is a stupid arguement. Why should he go under the cap if he doesn't play? So what if he puts their jersey on?

Hoppa does have a contract in place now to play for the Eels. He is now appearing in Eels jersey.

It's no different to paying a player peanuts and then paying him a truckload after retiring. The NRL wouldn't let that pass. They would put all the money under the club's cap.

If Paul Vautin is being payed to spruik our brand, should it come under our salary cap?

Of course not. Paul Vautin doesn't have a contract to play for Manly next season or any season thereafter. Hopoate has a contract to play in the future for the Eels.

If Hopoate is wearing the Eels jersey to help promote the 2012 Eels or Eels club membership then he is working for the Eels now and a $ amount for that service should be included in 2012 Eels cap.

It's simple really if he is not in the 25 his wage does not count. Is the marketing managers wage in the cap?
