Why not Tooves?

For the life of me, can some one tell me why Laurie Daly, Mat Johns, and other former players with no NRL coaching experience are being thrown around as potential NSW Blues coaches and yet Geoff is not even being mentioned?

Its always baffled me the anti-Toovey bias in the media.

Don't get me wrong - I am not saying he is the bets coach for the job (if Bellamy is free, Bellamy should be the one hands down!) but why or why has he been thrown on the scrap head? What are the criteria for the job?

Are you calling for an investigation?
🙂

He may not want the job.

I really love Tooves, like a lot, but you only have to listen to him on 360 to see that he is probably suffering from some serious CTE. He can barely string a coherent sentence together and makes some pretty outlandish claims. I remember he put a predicted team up for SOO earlier in the year and it really raised eyebrows as to what game he has been watching.

He is a club legend and one hell of a terrific bloke but I don't rate his tactical insight into the game at all. From what I can gather, neither did a portion of the squad that played under him at Manly back in the day.

Absolute legend and one of the bravest and most passionate footballers I have ever seen...a coach? I am not so sure...

Tooves was my favourite player, but the fact he hasn’t picked up a gig with another club, tells you everything about his coaching. Not sure there’s an “anti Toovey bias” in the media,as the original post suggested though

What defines Tooveys coaching career for me is his ability to get Manly playing finals footy and nearly Winning the Grand final in 2013 . Manly were super competitive and led that Grand final until the last dying minutes but ti was not to be

The main reason his coaching career ended at Manly was because he was not politically correct and wore his passionate heart on his sleeve as always and was politically assassinated for not backing the Penn faction .

State of origin is all about the passion and resilience and the coach that inspires these winning qualities in his players come up trumps
Toovey has these qualities in spades and he would be my pick for NSW head coach

A love Tooves

I was very anti Penn and pretty shirty when our Iconic Legend got shafted.

But it has been suggested a number of times that there might be a bit behind his sacking. That will never come out.

Not every one gets on in any organization . It is what it is and we should not let the turbulent past hold us back from a successful future

The main thing is we should not be Anti Manly and all support what is best for our Legendary club

Yep, and I don't think people should lose sight of the fact Tooves is back working at Manly in that Pathways role and the Penns are still the boss's with final say. Yeah Yeah Board and all.

I love him but I think the game may have passed him by now.
We all love him because of who he is and what he stands for
I would like to see him get another opportunity
He deserves the benefit of the doubt

Seibold coached the Broncos to their one and only Historic wooden spoon and he was given the benefit of the doubt
Toovey deserves the benefit of the doubt as much as seibold

There is no comparison to the aura that Toovey would bring in the coaching sheds in comparison to seibold
Just the Toovey aura alone would be uplifting and Inspirational

Toovey...
The Manly DNA and the Passion that Inspires a Manly Grand final Destination

Much like Kevvie got the donkeys within a whisker of winning it all last year… little to do with Kevvie, but much to do with staying out of the way of players capable of truly “coaching” the team.

First you say Kevvie got the donkeys within a whisker of winning the Grand final
and than contradict his effort by saying he did bugger all but let the players coach them selves
But your contradiction is your opinion and you are entitled to that

Seibold contributed to the Broncos only wooden spoon that tarnished the Broncos proud clubs History and he got another opportunity to coach
Toovey does not come with the same baggage as Seibold who carries a wooden spoon in his back pack and deserves another opportunity as well
We will agree to disagree feathered friend

And much like Tooves,I can’t see Walters picking up another gig in the NRL
I though Seibold would not get another gig after being the first coach in the History of the Great Broncos club to contribute to a wooden spoon
I mean who would hire a wooden spoon coach and expect them to win them a Grand final ?
