Why has Hasler lost the playing group?

No chance. He would have made the step up by now with a few games under his belt.

I dont understand the rationale behind a ststement above when Des has signed Gauc to a long term deal and Jetski remains unsigned. Why sign guys that you wont use to long term deals?

Players just need get some gametime before Des will consider them for FG.

Shoe would have been in the side earlier last year had he had half a season playing against men at blacktown. Same for Gauc.

Finally i do wonder if not playing Shoe earlier was more a contract extension issue rather than anything else?

Think about it. Des drops Shie into 5/8 half way thru last year. Kid goes well to start then really shines. Why put one of your best in the shopping window when you dont really need to before he resigns?
Agree to a certain extent with Schuster, though with Guaca he was best on field when he played on the edge last year only not to make the 17, Guaca was playing first grade back end of 2019, playing NSW cup in 2019 also.

Again hindsight.

Im no fan of Suli but hes got a lot of FG experence and has performed in the past.
Morgan at the time had no Reserve grade time last year and had little to no NRL experience.
Knowing what i know now its Harper 100% for me. Time will tell.
Same for Gauc.
You can lead a horse to water. Probably easier to just agree that Des has no feckin idea - the Schuster, Keplie, paseka and Haumole signings all happened by sheer luck. Entropy is responsible for our incredible form reversal, and Josh Aloiai was fibbing when he said Des was a HUGE factor in why he signed with Manly.

Oh yeah - and Dessie's five grand final appearances all transpired in some alternate universe.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it. Fact of the matter is.

Des was wrong to pick Walker at fullback. Let's not forget this important decision. He weakened the centre position to weaken the fullback position. Harper should have been the fullback or take a punt on Koula. His poor performances in defence especially let to a lack of confidence in the team. Picking Suli and Siro I can understand. Picking Boyle Jetski was more dumb decisions. Leaving Shuster and Guacamole out compounded these decisions. We got lucky with injuries to get these guys promoted earlier than when Dessie thought they were ready. If they were fit it's likely we still would not have seen them.

But in the end.. I'm glad he's turned it around regardless and we can progress with the youth that most the 'doubters' were calling for.

Albert Hopoate says hi.

-Schuster was blooded last season.

-Haumole was blooded in 2019.

-Saab has played every game.

-Keppie was blooded in 2019.

-Paseka has been chosen every week.

-Garrick has proven the doubters wrong.

-Croker has proven the doubters wrong.

-Jake has proven the doubters wrong.

-DCE has found form.

-Foran has proven the doubters wrong.

-Marty has proven the doubters wrong.

-Parker has proven the doubters wrong.

-Turbo has returned.

-The defensive structure has changed.

There are way more examples I could list - but I couldn't be assed. So many variables impact upon the fortunes of a footy side.

I believe Walker and Siro might prove a few wrong before the end of the year.

Agree. Not much you can say to appease the Des disciples. He signed Shoe and Guac to extended contracts only when his pet players were injured, and he realised the young talent he had, but refused to use.

NO NO NO NO NO.

everything you say above can be countered by reason.

Walker hasn't been a full time centre in how many years? He has played FB in the past and while his time there wasn't great it coincided with a lot of other things going on.

New Halves Pairing. It doesn't matter that they were a successful pairing 7 years ago. still takes time to gel.
New players bedding in.
New defensive pattern to learn.
Playing 3 of the hottest sides in 2021.
No Tommy.

Harper could have been given a run sure but younger guys with less FG experience can really suffer if they get some big sustained floggings.

Koula is a talent sure but again throwing a Lamb into the fire may not be what's best for him or his development.

Look at the Broncos. what was the young fullback called? Tesi Nui was it? he was supposed to be the next superstar and was dropped into their underperforming side only to be dropped a few weeks later. Hardly seen him since.

Just throwing in Youth isn't always the answer as so many sides have shown languishing at the bottom of the table.

And on a side note I notice not a lot has been said about the next big thing Albert Hoppa lately? wasn't he one of the gun players you lot were salivating over all last year? he got a run in that end. how did that work out?

Des....is that you? You know without the pet player injuries and Tommys return we’d still be fighting off the Bulldogs for last place.

Just to help you out with facts mate. the big man resigned back in March before 'Des's' supposed favourites were injured.

remember. don't let fact get in the way of a good story....

No need to get testy friend - if you disagree with me then just say so guy. Presenting an argument to back up the opinion you're pushing usually helps as well. Where did you get the notion he only signed Schu and Guac once his unsigned pets got injured from? Do you really believe that?

Nah mate - Des suddenly realised that Schuster and Guac had talent when his pets got injured - then he managed to sign two highly desirable, unhappy players in record time. It's a miracle - a miracle I tell ya.

Yes it is me Desmond - are you available to come onboard as an assistant? Your behind the scenes knowledge of the side is amazing. Really! I'm jolted by it.

I would never have picked Harper over Suli to start the year, and I doubt many around here would have either. Knowing what we know now, I would have tho.
Absolutely. After the week four loss - I was adamant that Croker, Parker and Garrick all needed to go. Everyone from the coaching staff down has done tremendously well to turn things around. I'm sure it has been achieved off the back of hard work and dedication. They should all be applauded for their effort.

I though it was pretty obvious I disagree with you and @Eagle of London . I know what I know, and I’ll not back down from it. Call me all the names you like, don’t care.

But Tom has returned and was always going to. I don’t really understand this point. Tbh part of me actually thinks we would still be winning with some of those earlier guys still in the squad with Tom coming back.
