Actually there have been many precedents of people who have never or rarely played a sport, who have found success in coaching. Australian Rules has Wayne Brittain, Neil Craig and Brendon McCarthy. None of them played senior Aussie Rules. Alan Jones coached Australia in RU but never played senior RU. Several women coach NFL teams in the States. Coaching is a totally different skill to playing. I would suggest there are several members on this site who could develop into competent top coaches given the training and experience. Certainly they would be better than some coaches presently coaching top sides in the NRL. Of course I'm not suggesting there's a Bennett, Hasler or Bellamy in our ranks but being a football player doesn't mean you'll be a good coach..
