If people just got over the need to be right ,we can readily accept all opinions. People see things differently, have different life experiences and expectations and footy think tanks

An example
As someone who critiques DCE game , i give my opinion on what i see. I am often referred too as a hater or a knocker the moment he does something good., thats someones need to be right rather than accepting his issues when he plays poorly and praise when he is good. I am no where near a manly hater , my life story supports that in spades

I am also on record of complimenting many of his attributes such as his support play, his instincts and his effort plays but still im a knocker or a hater because i crossed a line in someones melon. Even if i mowed DCE lawn weekly i know i can not earn that cred back in the eyes of some.

In my opinion there are a few that on occasion act as nutters on here ( i am probably one when i bite at times when baited )but it has nothing to do with post game assesments. Those that live long enough shouldnt repeat the mistakes of previous generations and should display the wisdom they think age has delivered them. Accepting difference

To think we all should see, do and think the same because we support manly is a good place to begin. Those that try to bully , or discredit others into assuming the company line whatever that may be, are not necessarily nutters but are on the podium.

While there is NO direct censorship on this site many try to coral you into adopting there thinking without offering a footy opinion.

As for who we should believe, trust your gut and be solid to yourself, admit when your wrong . No one wants to come here just to backslap eachother.

But each to there own

My footy opinion is that we just dont have the game to worry the contenders and we dont look to want to adopt it any time soon. I love every win, some losses filled with character and i love discussing the past and the future

We still tried to out footy wests rather than play high percentage footy despite completions and we still just wanted tom to save us .
You had me till the last sentence. Thought we showed the patience we had been missing. 1st half we dominated the ruck and never pushed the pass which resulted in winning the penalty count and eventually forcing a send off for repeat infringements. 84% completions was a major factor in us winning.

That they did and the first 20 was an example of patience without scoring or needing to overly play our hand. For a while it felt like it would cost us but didnt and thats a goodish sign

I thought we could have kicked more and play through them more, especially in that same period , but went around too much. we cut down the miracle plays a fair bit though and have had plenty of disruptions with the team.

We wont have a dry brookie , the fans, the penalty count or restarts against the ponies next week but hopefully some more troops

I thought the sin bin was harsh though in this game. I know people will point to other games, manlys ledger , but in a snapshot.....very harsh

Definitely not a sin bin in isolation but they were on notice for repeated infringements and we forced that by dominating the middle.

I give up ... I read one post saying we went well yesterday and we have a strong squad that on it's day can challenge ..

Then I read the next post and someone is saying we are crap and a long way off the pace and carrying a couple of Neville's

WHO AM I TO BELIEVE ?

The latter. We are undefeated at Brookie this season - 3 crap performances against 3 weak teams.

If you’re a fan in your early 20’s you maybe have only just started supporting the club , so making a Prelim final last year is a really big deal.

If you’re in your 30’s you’ll very much remember the 2007-2013 period and you’ll know what we have now ain’t that.

If you’re in your 40’s you’ll sadly remember “ the Northern Eagles “ and whilst this team is slightly reminiscent of that one you’ll have also experienced the decade of dominance so you’ll know what we have now ( by comparison) is **** !!

If you’re in your 50’s you’re going to remember , in addition to the 2007-2013 period , the dominant 90’s and the incredible 80’s ( which sadly only yielded on premiership ).

If you’re in your 60’s well god damn you are lucky , you’ve added that magical 70’s on there as well , wow THREE premierships in one decade and you’ll say “ ** me I’m sick of this ** “.

So the level of “ Nuttinest “ is probably age derived , and the older you are the more testy and nutty you become.

I’m as nutty as all **** AND proud of it !!
Ha I’m early forties and my fav memories were still the early and mid 90s. Just loved the Winfield Cup growing up as a kid in NZ. For me it was the greatest era (can’t comment before late 80s of course) and still truly believe the game has never recovered following SuperLeague. No joke League was all over Union in the early 90s in NZ. Then SL then Union went pro and that was that. The 07-13 era was something else tho too. I’ll die a happy man one day knowing I was there to watch us obliterate Melb 40-0 in the GF. That score will likely stand the test of time I’d think.

You should add another option for the swingers.

For me, it comes down to a few things:

The regularity of injuries / suspensions / court cases etc. We are all over the place in this department.

Then team selections. I'm a firm believer in an old school bench. Utility, 2 props, 1 backrower. Des plays silly buggars with his team selections (in my view). Also, play players in their preferred and specialist positions.

Game plan. We still haven't devised a system to beat one top 4 team in 2.5 years. That worries me.

Off the field. A strong team.onntje field, has a strong group of professionals off the field. At present we have no CEO, no CFO, our head recruiter failed all his KPI's at the Bulldogs. We hear about fractures between medical and coaching staff. We have a 20% complete Brookvale Oval. Our media connection between fans and club is pretty well non existent (we hear nothing for months, and at times years - has Ox been announced yet?).

That said....

FULL strength (and all in form) we are a chance despite Des coaching. The ability and skill overrides an out of date coach.

On paper we have a mint roster. The issue is I can't recall a time when all 30 players were available to us.

Cap management / retention. I can't remember the last time we acquired a player that wasn't a fringe reserve grade player at another club. Joel Thompson I think, and Barrett single handedly made that happen. Losing Walker, Taupau, Foran and not replacing them, or at a stretch relying on players who look unfit or don't ever play is worrisome. And **** me dead, please acquire a specialist Hooker !

So, to answer more directly. If ALL ducks line up, we can compete with anyone. The chance of that happening is buckley's though.

Don't get me wrong ,I love Manly.
But life is too short to dwell on a loss.
The side is coached by career champions who know the game inside and out
and better than I ever will.
So I am not going to waste my time stressing about selections that the professionals
make , which is out of my hands anyway.
But must admit ,have been known to get stressed out about upper management being
cheap and thinking they are above the club (That shouldn't happen)
I believe if we get on a run ,we can beat anybody.
And one of Des's best qualities of a coach is the players love him ,and when he has got them
in the correct mind frame ,anything is possible.
LETS GO MANLY,
LETS GO.

I see any game we get the 2 points a happy day ....but truth be known, we are way off the pace of the Panthers and Storm, like the rest of the competition.
See it that we are in that top 3 - 7 positions not in any particular order and hoping the side can stay away from injuries and build momentum, as the most important time to peak is end of season down the home straight.
Long as Manly "improve" gradually, can give themselves a shot come finals time.
Having these shootout games is not the best way to build, as in last season winning 62 - 30 ect, as come finals when opposition defence only allows 10 - 20 points and your use to "outscoring" your opponents the resilience is soft when the game is physical, and defence orientated....Manly need a massive defensive improvement to be considered a genuine contendor.

The fence sitters should all get off their fences and go away. The whole reason I missed the game Sunday is because it was SOLD OUT because of them.

Go Manly!

At manly you will find that we provide equal opportunity for both those that dress to the left or right .. it is a place where even numbnuts can safely interact with those of us with wisdom and experience.
To ensure safe interaction for the numbnumbnumbnuts, are they required to wear a harness?
