I want to see Schuster in the maroon and white for the next decade, he has to be in the top 17 based on our current form last season. Most first grade coaches who have suffered 9 losses out of eleven games would be playing a player of Schusters ability.

I get your point and agree to an extent.

I actually voted for him to be our fullback cover whilst Tom's out.

I just think that if we were a settled squad ( when was the last time that happened? ) he would be ideal to cover and float through a few positions like you say but we're not.

Look at when Foz and DCE debuted, they came in, knew their role with the same team week in, week out and that's all they had to do.

Hopefully in the next few weeks we're settled enough that he can come in as a specialist 14 and tear opposition teams a new one.
I think his role at 14 wouldn't change whether we had Tom in or not. So might as well put him in now as the positions he would cover remain the same. Still, Des will do what Des wants to do. I doubt he gives two tosses about what we think :)

I just want to hear the commentators say: "great kick from the Schu...".

I wont really comment till the final team is announced but Im guessing if they run with Funa at 14 it is about coverage.

ie he can cover and spot in the back 5 and if a half went down he can go to fullback and walker 5/8.

If Schuster takes that spot he can cover halves, backrow and centre but if a fullback or winger went down it would be more moving parts (Schuster centre, suli wing, garrick fullback etc)

Dunno.....I'm hoping Schuster gets in but can kinda see the logic

I think Schu would be better adept at Fullback (as cover) than Garrick. More similarities in attack with 5/8 than wing these days. Anyway, surely he will find his way in within the first 4 rounds.

This is one of the saddest threads I can recall, in all the years I've been visiting this storied website.
(I haven't read it, just going by the thread title!)

But what I really want to know, is ...
