Which club will pinch Schuster from us??

True Woodsie & we have a player who could solve many of the problems if given an opportunity!

He’d walk into any team as 5/8 or at the least in the 17......except Manly. He has more talent & X factor than anyone else in the squad! What pi$$es me off is we can all see it, other players can see it, media can see it yet Des & his coaching staff cannot. Benji said ‘it was the best debut by a player he’s seen’......wake up Manly!

I agree he will be something special ... but sorry, I agree with Dessie ... he is still a work in progress and I think Foran is a much better option for us at this stage ... however, I would probably have had him in the 17 ...

That’s my point mate....at least in the 17 so he can get some game time & show what he can do. In the only games he’s played he has shown more than Cust & Croker put together.

A) who says he isn't playing firsts, team is announced an hour before kickoff, wait till then.
B) he will play plenty of firsts this year, game 1 is just 1 game
C) by the time he is off contract he will be our regular 5/8. I doubt he will then be worried about a game he missed 18 months before
D) I'm sure Dessie is communicating clearly on his development plans to Josh and his team

So take out Cust and Croker, who plays hooker and where does he ( Schuster ) play?

In an ideal world - with Turbo at 1 and Fainu at 9 - he'd be in the 17 but whilst we're playing with a makeshift 9 and Foz is fit enough to get on the park it's difficult.
We're far from a settled squad so bringing in a young gun may not be the option.

I can see it if Fainu was playing, give him a spell and move Foz/Shuster there but he's not.

I don't think there's too many squads that look to sub out their 5/8 during a game.

I'd like to see him regularly in the 17 too but I understand why he's not at the moment.

We're far from a settled squad so bringing in a young gun may not be the option.

I can see it if Fainu was playing, give him a spell and move Foz/Shuster there but he's not.

I don't think there's too many squads that look to sub out their 5/8 during a game.

I'd like to see him regularly in the 17 too but I understand why he's not at the moment.

But Stu, Schuster played plenty of backrow and can cover the backline with his size, speed and skill. He isn't purely a 5/8 option. I see great value in that type of cover as we don't have anyone else who can cover those positions by themselves.

You could effectively play him as a second 5/8th out on the edge as well. It isn't like we haven't seen that from coaches before, especially since we don't have Tom chiming in from the back.

I get your point and agree to an extent.

I actually voted for him to be our fullback cover whilst Tom's out.

I just think that if we were a settled squad ( when was the last time that happened? ) he would be ideal to cover and float through a few positions like you say but we're not.

Look at when Foz and DCE debuted, they came in, knew their role with the same team week in, week out and that's all they had to do.

Hopefully in the next few weeks we're settled enough that he can come in as a specialist 14 and tear opposition teams a new one.

Croker at 9 or Cust at 9.....why have Funa on the bench? 14 should be Schuster.
