First Grader
Has played some freakish footy in 2018, but unfortunately many mistakes have crept in due to confidence way down and generally, some poor team performances.
GROUP 1 -
The 4 best Fullbacks by a way so far imo, are Ponga Red Hot, who has been plenty involved and seems to get amongst the action with the game on the line and his threat engaging the A defender and edge is deadly....and equally good is Sheck who looked lost in 2017, has in the season opening, proven himself a far better player than I thought he was - Defence is Super and he continually revs up the troops from the back as well as scintillating attack.
Hate to call it but "Boots" Slater is again up there at 3, his support play is the best in the NRL and again - we have a General from the back directing troops and barking orders.
Not far off these at 4 is young Dufty, who adds a genuine Attacking X factor from the back and for a lightweight, has a red hot go....positionally solid and defence reasonable - interesting to see him in big games once he gets ruffled up and rag dolled - great young talent though.
GROUP 2 -
The boyd lovefest has lost momentum with decent, but average form along with Tedesco who looks lost, showing glimpses of spark and will improve as he learns his team mates.
These 2 are in the next pack alongside Johnstone who has either lit Souths up, or gone MIA.
Add Thompson who is a suprise packet at Tigers, DWZ who has moments but has not been great.
Coote would just slide in here based on some solid yet unspectacular footy
GROUP 3 -
Next line we have Wighton a handful in attack but a mistake waiting to happen, Mbye who they raved about early but has a highlight reel of 4 magical moments and 15 horrors swept under the carpet....
* Cant judge Gutho as he has had a layoff, but its fair to say as soon as he is on the field - the teams lifts, energy better, more talk, adds direction and has minimal mistakes in his game - would think based on what he brings to Eels, would slot comfortably into GROUP 2.
Turbo is somewhere at the bottom of Group 2 imo, based on what he has dished up and as a player predicted to be the NSW by many a judge - is miles off the Top group at this point....sad thing is, he has the potential to be on the Top shelf and is way off the pace, like many team mates....where do others rate him on current form as I may be a little harsh based on my high expectancy of such a talented player??
