For a while it looked like Des was going to do his Ballin- LeStrange thing with Croker and Cust. But Cust got injured, while Walker and Lawton overtook him to be the utilities/interchange hooker. From what minutes Cust played for us this year he was generally good - I think scored a determined and surprise individual try in his last FG appearance. He is not first choice halfback but it transpired he wasn't even second choice when Des bafflingly made that Walker, who predicatably overplayed his hand in that role (has this lesson beem learnt? You never know with Des). I like Cust too and don't think he is that bad a defender. Where he fits at Manly is a problem. He would be playing FG at a number of other clubs

“It’s been my most enjoyable year of rugby league. It’s brought my love back to the game because I was a bit lost back in Manly.
End quote

In the end We were all a bit lost with Des back at Manly Cade Cust

He was often the only player who looked dangerous when we were getting rolled in the forwards. When the going was getting tough he'd roll his sleeves up, DCE just panics and starts playing jungle ball.
