What should be our main aim in 2017?

I've always been a sucker for the underdog, especially a local underdog. I think Brad Parker at 19yo, 6'4" and 90 kgs has plenty of up side. He scored 2 tries in 4 appearances and looks like he likes to play tough. I love to see slick running backs but I also like to watch blokes who put the fear of god into the opposition. I'm hoping Parker grows into that roll for Manly.

The 8 should be a goal every year. As I firmly believe that whilst you have 3 or 4 top teams every year, often the bottom of the 8 can have teams that don't have great squads. There is no reason that can't be a goal every year.

I think improvement is always a key to every season, especially when you have finished outside the 8. So better discipline needs to be a goal and also this feeds into the 1 percenters. Ie not finding touch, giving away weak penalties on the 4th or 5th tackle. Little things like that which completely kill you in games.

And haven't we been poor in that aspect for a few years now!

OK Mark, (and others) put your (crystal) balls on the line and predict which of the following gambles succeed or fail in 2017. I think we need at least 3 to make it, added to our core we will have a very good side.

Meehan
AFB
Locke
Sironen
Lane
Omar
Hopoate
Uate
Lawrence
Kelly

And for fun.

Green
Parker

Honestly think Green will be a massive improvement. When DCE was injured with Lyon out we were lost. 2 or 3 games we were the better team by a mile but couldn't score the points needed to get the win (2nd parra game)

AFB will be one all round good quality NRL prop by the end of the year starting with Lussick.

Meehan if allowed to play will take Vave's place off the bench. He will have some great games and some average ones. Not huge minutes but there to run hard and damaging. Very much like AFB of 2016.

Kelly/Parker both look top young prospects who will improve with time on the field. There will be some lapses but overall they will get us excited.

The one position we could end up with rocks or diamonds is the last second rower. I am really unsure, Siro, Lane, Hoppa could be great, could be crap.

I will add Bainbridge even though isn't on your list but he will play more games next year. Kid just turned 19 in September and will need to be blooded so we don't lose him

Hopefully Parker puts on 4-6kg in the off season.

Highly likely at his age and build. Turns 20 in Feb from memory so exactly the time when players put on muscle.

Remember Wade Graham at 19, Watmough almost killed him, also remember Graham saying it was a revelation and he has turned into a beast since then.
