What’s really killing our 2025 season?

I don't think there are any true fans of Seibold. There are those who think he's not a good 1st grade coach, and those who overlook this fact. But no one really believes he's actually good coach.

As Manly coach, Seibold currently has a higher win percentage than Barrett (not a high bar to clear there) but also currently higher than Des (his immediate predecessor) had across his entire second stint at Manly.

To me that's enough of a sample size to suggest we have other problems to address as a higher priority than the guy in the coach's box...

I agree Bob. We need a proven coach to instil discipline, pride and respect back in the place. Not sure about Demetrieou - think he would be more of the same. Looked like the senior players were running the ship at Souths when he was in “charge”.
Thats who I believe we will get if Seibold goes.

Certainly not what we want or need.

Spend some money on some promising juniors that are on the fringes of the better clubs ie Melbourne, Broncos, Panthers ,etc. as well as throwing a few of our own. I recount that Warea Hargreaves was one of those players that couldnt get a run on in our 1st grade team and was on the fringes and the Roosters saw the talent. The good money should be spent on at least player who has at least tasted some premiership success and was a pivotal figure .Players such as Mavrik Geyer, Bronson Garlick, Wiremu Greig, Kobe Hethrington, etc.

I just think it's this club's spectacular ability to self implode one way or another year after year. From rediculous player recruitment to dramas with players and administrators, to insane decisions and the constant stream of injuries to key players. There's no stability in the place and that filters down to player attitudes.
Absolutely agree that if this club ever wants to build resilience, what need is STABILITY and slog this out.

As fans of this club have we all become conditioned to seeing this team self implode, and what follows next is sack the coach. That will fix it yeah!

Same with Broncos and Kev, and this year, surprise surprise new coach, 99 new methods, a harder approach more discipline but yeah just like implosions at Manly, it's deja vu, just rince repeat.

If you want change. STABILITY. Get everyone inside, lock the doors, have some open, honest, discussions. Put on the gloves and let em go at it. And fix it.

Dogs seemed to do alright after have wrestling sessions against the entire team.

OK a few players threw their toys out of the cot, or headed to court , but did the problem if it was work ethic get fixed?

An implosion not a bad thing, if it's actually the learning needed to identify parts broken and if it can be fixed, or needs to just be shipped.

But if what's broken isn't the coach, having a new one with 99 new ways of doing things means stuff all, if you havent actually learned anything from the past and fixed what is ****ed.

Insanity.

Obviously I agree this is not our issue atm, as I have stated in another thread. (I was referring to posters commenting on 'Seibold fanboys')

But just taking a step back from our current situation (challenges will always be testing any organisation year after year, and it is plain to see that Manly crumble at the first sign of adversity without previously staunch leadership in guys like Arko, Bozo, Hasler etc - this is just the latest example), I feel that aside from the owner, a club must have a top line CEO, Football Manager, Head Coach, and Captain. Moving forward, whilst Mestrov and Gentle may or may not turn out to be the right men for their jobs, I have been absolutely sure, and from the beginning, that Seibold and Cherry-Evans are not.

P.S. Speaking of great leadership, if Manly miss the 8 this year, then only 4 clubs across the NRL have missed the finals more than us over the last 11 seasons. Without a doubt, Penn and Cherry-Evans have overseen the worst decade in over 60 years of Manly's rich history

I like the concept of stealing promising juniors from succesful clubs but do not like your examples there.

Geyer may kick on but I dont think the other 3 improve us at all. In fact Greig would be a backward step.

I'd be much more inclined for Wilson, Te Kura, Mozer, Piakura, Black, Henry, Hassett, Patea, Vaalepu.

That said a talented junior is a talented junior.

A player like Tallyn De Silva shouldn't be discounted cause he is from the Tigers.

I agree in part that there are other factors but Siebold has a better stable of players than Barrett and Hasler had, not that I'm defending their efforts. This side should be very close to a top 4 side given the talent out there.and Turbo on the field.
