That’s incorrect. Seibold brought through Carrigan, Flegler and co at the Broncos at the expense of the older players. Which is why he fell out. Ask Carrigan what he thinks about seibold. He speaks glowingly about him.
That is right , Seibold did bring in those great young prospects but he did not rise them to any great heights . Far from it

As far as Carrigan Glowing goes ...
No one Glows with an end of season wooden spoon and the first spoon ever in the Broncos proud history .

This Siebold roster finished last on 6 points with only 3 wins and minus 356
Carrigan , Hass , Fifita , farnworth ,Coates , Oates , Stags , Milford Arthas ,Mccullough, Flegler , Issako
This was a gross wooden spoon underachievement and I hope this does not happen to Manly

Jeez. Tough markers. 21 year old, playing just a few games at fullback (last weekend with 10 first graders out), when he came through the grades as a representative 5/8.

Be good to let the kid develop 5 minutes before we send him packing hey?
100%

So many fans demand youngsters into first grade too early and then demand they never play first grade again too early.

Success isnt linear.

He's had a few rough games no doubt, but its not full time on him yet. Back to Blacktown and he'll be back

What so many fans demand and what they get is up to a confident and competent coach who makes those team changes according to his intellect

Success isn't linear
And if you keep making excuses for losses
The end is near

I saw that 😄 The exact type of mindless, meaningless, empty collywobble talk that signals a really poor communicator - not meaning Disco but Seibs.
Yeah, "Success isn't a straight line" is a classic Seiboldism, which gave me a chuckle. But Disco is smarter than Seibs and doesn't use it nearly as much. When Disco uses it, it makes sense, and I agree that it's counterproductive to throw Weekes to the lions just yet.

Weirdly enough, I actually think Seibold is a very good communicator, in that he always appears very open and honest. I like the way he deals with the media, especially in comparison to Des. Most of the time with Des we could have stood a slightly damp mop behind the interview table and nobody would have noticed the difference.

My only real issue with Seibs is that the content of his speechifying (rather than its presentation and delivery) can sometimes be a little New Age-y, when I'd prefer a more old school "run hard, tackle hard", fire and brimstone approach. Which means I still miss Tooves, I guess.

Who was it that thought he could make it as a fullback? He has skills, but fullback is not his position.

Stick with him, he has the attributes to develop, if he doesn’t come good after six or more games with the same spine then he should go back the the Workers team.

Well , well, well.....what didn't we want from SOO 1 - Tom T out injured, well Silvertails come enjoy the predictable desert !!
Manly need a win next up vs Fins and playing an unconfident Weekes is a risk from what he has shown in 2023.
I say give hime time at Blacktown, still young and simply needs to at least regain confidence, tackling and timing, in a far easier environment.
Not sure if we are allowed to elect Jake Toby, the short explosive fullback from Blacktown, but he is far more polished as a fullback and would allow Gaz to play his Trump card well which is left wing.
1 would think with Tom being an injury and Weekes actually a 5/8, there is some NRL rule allowing a "Fullback" to play fullback.
I have no doubt Toby would create some headaches to opposition as he is a great support player which we lack, has elusiveness and that unpredictable element.
Again this is not some saviour, but I would give this bloke a go as watched him plenty and can handle the bigger players and always involved....and a safer and more more productive option than Weekes at this stage.
Plays 12.30 Saturday on Fox if anyone has time to see him in action.

Weekes is a fullback and listed as fullback on the official club site. As is Koula.
Having said that I thought clubs were allowed to draft in players from reserves at some stage of the season - but don't quote me!
I reckon we persist with Weekes, I don't think he was that bad last week, just needed to be more assertive in taking runs in attack. (Crazy to blame him for missing the Knights winger at the end, no full-back would have got close to him in that run.)

Weekes maybe listed at prop, but has also played at 5/8 for much of his juniors career and Koula is correctly playing in he centres at NRL level .
Agree not just about missing Dom Young in open spaces like every other fullback before him, more his timing and involvement in attack were off, along with a few other odd defensive plays at key moments.....he wasn't a horror show like Johns performance and another shot is likely coming, I just feel that Toby is worth looking at as feel he would adapt immediately to the physicallity and get way more involved than Weekes.
But this is just a footy site where we are meant to voice opinions and open a few options for discussion right, so let me wreck the party - there is no toby playing next game and Weekes will be there again so don't sweat it.

I can't see Seibold experimenting anymore this season. He will likely stick with the regulars (including Johns and Harper) if injuries do persist. Weekes will be used sparingly and Tuipolotu / Arthur will be utilized more often than not.

You all remember the pre-season article where Weekes was supposedly shadowing Turbo in the FB position and being personally mentored by Turbo. Either Turbo is one ****e mentor (quite possibly) or Weekes is worst than we dreamed (also, quite possible).

Your definitely correct and multiple changes rarely work out, you will often see me throw in a few left field options for debate on here.
I do however reckon Toby is a valid option and anyone who gets a chance, watch the live wire fullback for Blacktown this Saturday - very Entertaining player...

I think Toby and a couple of the Blacktown boys (ie Myers, GCKT, Stucky, Matterson) are decent enough for a call up, Ive watched most of their games. I've posted in other threads that these guys deserve a crack, but I think it will have to wait till next year. But who knows what Seibold will get up to in the off season. Maybe he will buy some deadwood from other clubs without looking at Blacktown.

Sticking and picking is a old fashioned negative approach and suggests that you have run out of ideas. It often results in form being insufficiently considered whether good or bad. If Seibs keeps picking defensive liabilities in the back line the results, the team and those players will not get any better and IMO we are unlikely to make the 8.
