Said the same thing going into the Mudgee game, around fielding a stronger side, (no Harper) the knights exposed our edges and the Riff destroyed them, unfortunately pretty sure the storm will be looking forward to their turn.

Weekes best attribute is his speed and support play, he‘ll follow the ball all day, his a FB after all, he played 80 there in Rd 25 last year and handled it pretty well in the conditions.

Last night was always going to be a tuff assignment, Cleary mentioned Weekes after the game saying they were going to test him defensively. Interesting to note he also rated him, the fact they went after him with the ball, he has a bucket load more potential than a number of plodders in our backline.
Goes to show how inept Seibold is still as a coach. He gave Cleary a free kick by telling everyone Weekes was going to play a day before.

That’s comedy gold.Cleary would of been flummoxed if Seibold had kept the original side in tact.Because for most of the week he was never going to target Johns’ side, but when the change was made a day or two before,Cleary decided to completely overhaul his game plan

Not sure what to do about Weekes. The last two games he's played (one at 6 and the other as replacement hooker) he's looked a bit at sea.

Last week we looked more composed when Johns moved to #6 at half time. This week the attacking structure seemed to break down with Weekes at hooker until Croker got back on the field.

I don't know if he just isn't suited to being an interchange hooker, or whether the coaching team just need to simplify his role for him so that he can play with a lot more confidence... but either way something isn't quite working at the moment.

Agree. Lost at sea for now.

Let's see how he goes for the next few games until round 11, then the Kum becomes eligible, so we will decide his fate.

I reckon he played fine, no errors that stood out and to attack against both Penrith and and Storm is a rugged day at the office, but had some darts and looked sharp, in fact had Storm worried.
The 1 defensive issue that does stand out, almost every tackle he is last up and out of play by the time the opposing Hooker is off and gone - that creates huge stress on the defensive line as middle is auto compromised.
Still young, early days and what he has shown is as good as many players who have gone on to be Star players, so personally confident he has a great career ahead of him.

Weekes' problem at the moment is that he hasn't found a starting spot.

Replacement hooker is tough as it's quite a specialised position. Then we have a specialist hooker who will become available for first grade in a few weeks.

They gave him a shot as starting 5/8 but it was against a red hot panthers and everyone except Jake got outplayed. Schuster has looked awesome when he has been on the field.

His best fit could be at fullback but there is only one player I want to see in a maroon and white jumper with a one on the back.

DCE got my man of the match against the storm.

Weekes would be a good replacement for any of those guys if they are out - he has a lot of potential to make something happen - but I don't want any of them to get injured.

Didn't he spend the off season training at fullback?
Maybe he needs more time working on being the 14.
The team did lose their rhythm when he was on and you could see Tom getting frustrated.

At this stage, I really doubt he would have too many clubs fighting for his signature.
Perfect time to offer him a 2 year deal :)
He is a talent but his passing from dummy half was pretty ordinary. Might be better just to tell him to run nearly every time, he's a fantastic runner.

I said to my son last night we should never have put him in - and that’s fine. Last nights game was a grinder where we needed to keep it tight in the middle. Croker should have just played the 80. Weekes coming on stifled the flow a bit. Weekes will be good to inject in a game say vs Tigers when we are rolling through their forwards with a bit of momentum. I still like carrying him as 14 tho and am ok if he doesn’t get a run if the situation doesn’t suit.

Did what was expected of him last night , learning process but mere fact he has so much ability , really should be in the game day 17 [ and bench for now ] , even when Schuster hopefully returns quite soon . Very , [ very ] hopefully Turbo can stay on the paddock and go from strength to strength , origin selection then no doubt and for Kaeo to get a shot at full back to enhance his progress . Not too sure who to put on the bench then as a utility but seems least of the problems right now .
