Wayne Cousins ( Media Manager)

It’s been announced today that Wayne ( Cuzzo as most would know him ) has been “ let go “ from the club effective immediately.

I don’t know anything other than this and just sharing here as I’ve read it elsewhere.

Wayne came along after I’d finished my work with the club so personally I had zero to do with him , but I would say he was quite involved with many of the supporter group and seemed to do a good job in his role as media manager.

Ive since discovered his position has been made redundant , so the reasoning for his departure is as simple as that.

As I stated originally I had zero inside knowledge and just saw it mentioned elsewhere.

This is unfortunate as he definitely seems to have done a good job for Manly esp with the Manly way videos etc but also might explain why we may not see the much anticipated episode 2 of the Manly way tonight but fingers crossed it drops soon! Maybe his next replacement takes it to another level which we have not seen before in the space! Appreciate all you have done for the club Wayne and best of luck on your next adventure!

Always thought he did a pretty good job , think from a fan engagement perspective they’ll miss him.

As mentioned Cuzzo was made redundant two weeks ago and finished up today. He got a great send off from players, staff etc after 9.5 years.

I got to know Cuzzo very well from my time on the members council and now call him a mate.

To say he went above and beyond is an understatement - his job was 7 days a week and there was never really an off-season for him. I have spoken to him a number of times since he got the news and he said He loved his time at the club, informing the fans and also will continue supporting the Sea Eagles.

My personal view is that we will notice the difference whether it be covering the juniors, match previews and injury reports etc. Hopefully the new direction the club is taking will still provide us fans with the information and connectivity Cuzzo provided us.

He is also very familiar with Silvertails and all the people on here - he hopes to have a beer someday with some inc. Ryan, The Who, Mick and even MFB. I will miss his texts with links to articles etc so the news could be put on up ST asap.

Cuzzo is having a break and will see what’s in the pipeline in the new year and hopes to stay in Rugby League.

Thanks Cuzzo for everything you did for the Sea Eagles family - it was a Travis Head type knock coming in on a green pitch after Zorba!

I'm sorry, I just think this is rough on Cuzzo just prior to Christmas in a very tough job market, in every industry.

I hope he's okay.

I believe Ben is still there, I can assure you Ben had nothing to do with the restructure

Cuzzo is a good man and deserved better pre-Christmas. As The Wheel said, I think the impact will be felt over time. His value will be appreciated by fans, players, CEO and coach when they need his experience/output during the year.

I can’t help but feel that $ are being saved in other areas to support greater investment in the football department. Don’t forget that long service is paid after 10 years too.

Anyway, the merits of this management decision will be seen over time.

Interesting on Ep2 of the Manly Way tonight, they went out of their way to go through the 3 new coaching staff.

Obviously hiring in some areas and redundancies in others.

Was Wayne responsible for The Manly Way?

I hope Wayne lands on his feet and I'm sure he will. He always returned my emails and gave mrs ge and me plenty of time when I first met him at a Manly v NZ game...in NZ (where I met a few of you guys actually).

As @Bradza posted, 9.5 years before the 10 yr LSL switch and 10 days before Christmas seems like a total dick move, but...

I don't know all the ins and outs of running 'the business' but I reckon he made it a better joint, and wish him all the best.

Head to Canada, Wayne, and learn to ski!

This is sad to hear. The club has been doing such good stuff in the media space in the last 18 months. I'd say that The Manly Way in particular is probably the reason they Brookie now sells out every single time.
