Match Stats

We have 2-3 players who are to slow when they roll away from the tackle, Jake, Toff and Paseka. Do not know how many times I was shouting about Toff last night. Refereeing was quite ordinary suppose have to expect that playing away and having Adam Gee who like no other ref over officiates I reckon he blows more 6 agains that anyone else.

That's 18 Games. Of those 18 games, we have:
  • Won the Set Restart count 3 times;
  • Had a Draw with the Set Restart count twice; and
  • Lost the Set Restart count 13 times.

Poor game plan last night trying to blow the warriors away from inside our 30 and givng up cheap possession. The razzamatazz should be saved until after you have earned field position. For all the talk of learnings it's time we started playing smarter football. Talk about slow learners.
It was a poor attitude also. I was worried after two early tackles in which both Jazz and Sips got up smiling in a friendly way to the player they'd just tackled. We were wrecklessly over confident

Slow learners or are they being over coached?

The coach doesn't stop talking about weapons, and playing to our strengths, etc.

I have no doubt DCE, for example, could be a very good game management style halfback. He has the brain, he has the kicking skills, we have seen glimpses of it in the past.

I think the Coach wants to play razzle dazzle footy, and this suits the playing group (read, team leaders) cause it's more fun, easier, and showcases their talents, and no doubt strokes a few egos both on and off the field for good measure.

I wonder if the “tightness” Turbo felt was his inability to play well on the night 😂

Very interesting, thanks.
As a fan the things I hate most about the 6 again are:

1. the lack of transparency. When an official intervenes to change a game surely the fans are entitled to know exactly what the infringement was, 'ruck infringement' doesn't explain anything and because the game moves on there aren't replays or any way to work it out.

2. inconsistency of the effect of transgressing - so much depends on what part of the field and what stage in the tackle count the ref intervenes. It can result in the attacking team having a 7 tackle set or a 10 or 11 tackle set. Huge difference. Or if multiple 6 agains it could be far more, and the effect on the defending team can be devastating and game-changing.
(aside from that its a great rule)

Sorry guys, but we just needed to win that to not let Jazz smile post game.

Btw some interesting tries scored by you guys.

Good game!
The better tean won. You win the middle you win the right. So well done to your team. Our Manly boys just didn't handle to chaos this week.

Agree. And if I remember correctly (doubtful)...

We were sold on the 6 agains on the basis that "Instead of a penalty which now-a-days hinders the penalised team too much (field position, etc ) , refs will give a 6 again."

But it's morphed into the refs giving a 6 again if it's not quite deserving of a penalty.

Well, that could have been written better.

Needs to be tweaked. I think they said it was about cutting down the wrestle, which is a good intention. The game has had some massive changes over different eras, before my time but apparently was unlimited tackle back in the saints 11-in-a-row days then suddenly went to 4 tackle, then finally to 6 tackle. All seems a bit arbitrary but when you make such a big change, be ready to tweak it as needed.

Clean forgot about Taukeiaho possibly being available for next week .
Could offer some helpful improvement and steady, experienced play in the forward line up .
Not sure who to omit then out of Alioia , Sipley or Waddell
If fit , TKO & BFB in , AoA & TSips dropped

The six again counts are almost irrelevant ( doesn’t mean I don’t hate them ) BUT it’s the position on the field , and what tackle number the team is on that really counts.

For example teams almost purposely give them away on their line so that they can get their defence properly set.

But here’s an example which virtually guarantees a try for the side getting the benefit.

Penalty ( not six again ) coming out if their line , kicker gains 30 metres.

5th tackle of next set , “ 6 again “, 4th tackle of next set “ 6 again “, the next set the attacking side will 99/100 times score ( the the defence is now absolutely stuffed from 24 tackles.

And the second reason the 6 again counts are irrelevant is when the game is dusted the ref tries to even up the count so that it doesn’t look like he’s given one side a clear advantage.

Our game v the Cowboys was an example , NQ got a number of 6 agains in that last 10 minutes as our discipline / defence had dropped off, and bingo , 2 try’s.

They are an abomination on the game , zero credibility for the ref with zero accountability post game, and can be an absolute game changer.

I find the 6 agains way to inconsistent. If anyone watched the game last night you would have seen Raiders lying all over broncos that 1st 20 minutes, Completely stifling the attack & frustrating them. IMO it was blatant & worse then what manly did as it was a obvious tactic they had going into the game but yet no 10 in the bin for them

the perfect example of this was Raiders last night. Couldn’t believe how long they were laying on top for in that 1st 20 minutes

I didn’t watch that game , we had friends over for dinner & looking at the new caravan but yes that’s a common issue , the variation in how the refs actually referee this rule.
