Walker - will we, won't we

So true. In fact I'd be surprised if any of our top men get more than a few minutes. I think usually our first trial is many fringe blokes running around, the second trial will feature most of our top lineup but only for 20-30 minutes. Walker is in that category of elite experienced players who don't need 2 trials in order to know how to start the season.

Yep I think DES will pick him and this no team sheet is probably exactly about making that point to players more than anyone else. Stuff the NRL I've got Ur back.

Would it matter if Walker is on the team sheet or plays a nothing trial game. No.

The US against the world mentality is back.

DES may be crazy, but he knows how to play this card, he knows how to unite a group of men.

Get used to this being a little cra cra.

The MAN is back.

Agree get use to it - Des loves stirring up the journos
No reason at all why he wont and shouldn't play. For those who say that you don't need to play a trial or trails if you are experienced and they only need 20 minutes, while it may protect from injuries it sure as hell doesn't get players used to the combinations or the physical contest. I remember after the first game every season waking up on Monday morning and almost unable to get out of bed because I was so sore. Maybe I am old school but trials are a necessary evil.

I doubt Des would be remotely perturbed at the prospect our players will wake up sore after our round 1 game. He won't play our guns in the trial.

The club dont want the link with walker/domestic abuse to Manly in the news at this point so doubt he will play, they know they will cop it when he goes to court again, best to let the dragons/de belin cop it for now

If he does it will be his only game this season. The nrl will be changing rules, whether he is found innocent in the courts he and others will be banned.
I am giving him the presumption of innocence but yes you can see that even if found innocent the NRL will have some rule in place banning him and others of similar actions.

Think there are three trials including this one and I guarantee that the "guns" will get a good run and they wont be in cotton wool till the first game of the Premiership.

Again has he changed that much since he was here? How many trials did we win back In those days

Agreed, but not even picking him hasn't stopped the latest round of media hysterics about it over the last 48 hours and painted Manly as bad.

The NRL media collectively are feral. They do not give a toss about the interests of the game at all. Unlike AFL media who are mostly all AFL cheerleaders.

The reason the NRL sponsors and club sponsors get shaky about off field incidents is because NRL media keep throwing fuel on the fire. They chase the sponsors up and put questions to them asking are you going to end your sponsorship and then make a series of stories about it, which ever way the sponsors jump it will be negative to their interests. Of course the sponsors think twice about staying on board or even getting on aboard with league in the first place.

In AFL their media rarely go the steps that the NRL media go to.

Be assured. If the NRL media successfully kill of league, they will all just move on to some other sport and feed off that instead.

Walker set to play in Manly trial despite charges
Sam PhillipsFebruary 22, 2019 — 4.58pm

Dylan Walker is set to turn out for Manly on Saturday despite the assault charges which cloud his future in the code.

Manly CEO Lyall Gorman told the Herald coach Des Hasler will have 28 players available for selection in the clash against Cronulla at Shark Park.

It is understood the club left the decision in Walker's hands.

If he wants to play, he will be part of Hasler's side in what shapes as an intriguing trial for reasons on the field as well as off.

Kane Elgey and Trent Hodkinson will split the minutes at five-eighth alongside Daly Cherry-Evans in what will be their first chance to audition for the starting No. 6 jersey at Manly.

Josh Morris will play his first game for Cronulla but all eyes will be on young gun Bronson Xerri, who is tipped to star in the centres for the club in years to come.

Bingo and Bullseye . You hit the spot brother !!!

Frankly, I can't see anything to be gained from Walker playing in the trial match.
1. We all know how good he is, and there are plenty of others vying for a centre position so it makes more sense to given them every opportunity to show their wares
2. After Tuesday the club will know the outcome of the court appearance. Surely it makes sense to wait until this.

It is not about how good he is . They play players for combinations work . We do have many new players in our back line
Innocent until proved guilty . The NRL are not above the Law . Look what they did to Snake .

This issue really annoys me especially when media people get on the bandwagon espousing the need for justice in denying players or for that matter any person, freedom to live their normal life before a judgement of the court has been made. Absolute hypocrites. These are the same people lynching witches or those they think committed an offence before their right to be assessed by trial so all the information is presented.

This is not about protecting women, this is about vengeance against anyone suspected of abuse, as if they know the full story. We aren't under Napoleonic Law where the accused has to prove their innocence and can be held indefinitely until they do so. Its about a system of law, that is the best in the world, where a person is innocent until proven guilty.

If they are found guilty, then punish them appropriately. I'm very much against any abuse whether against women, or men, children and animals. It cant be tolerated in our society. But lets punish those found guilty, not those accused.
