Wadell

I'm not pushing Waddell out the door he's never been given a great crack at it and often been off the bench or filling in for the backs after our regular injuries. He's been tossed around all over the shop. For what we're probably paying him be provides reasonable service.

That said, he's hardly a star so seems unlikely anybody would make up stories about him just for headlines cause this won't make any. Guess it's most likely true.
30+ appearances for Manly.
He's had his chance.

Fair comment , GoJetSki is very much the same

Indeed. Jetski the same. As soon as I think there's half a player in there he drops off and when you write him off he surprises you. Think that's just Jetski and Waddell in a nutshell. Fringe.

Jetski's ability to sniff out a try from a grubber kick is quite unique amongst our players... I'll be backing him to pick up first try or just a try this week ( whilst gambling responsibly ).

I think the first thing we need to establish before we recruit anyone is how we want to play. Anyone we recruit needs to have speed and some mongrel. Competitiveness/will to win is so important. We have too many nice guys in the side. We are short on a Watmough or a Glenn Stewart type. Lead with action AND words. Imagine if choc was getting interviewed in the current side. “We are dog****, can’t tackle and when it gets tough we aren’t up to it” not the standard “we are trying hard” turn it up yas aren’t good enough. Leading by 14 and getting beaten on your home track is rolling over. Member appreciation round. Cheers for the effort. When it gets tough defensively they all look to someone else to do it. Manly teams play tough and are expected to win.
Been saying it for ages, Bailey Siro from Souths

Trent Barrett has struck his first blow against former club Manly by signing one of their players to a long-term deal.
The incoming Canterbury coach will reunite with back-rower Corey Waddell at the Bulldogs for the next three years. Waddell will get an immediate chance to impress his new teammates when Canterbury play the Sea Eagles on Friday night.
Barrett had enticed Waddell to Manly before his split with the club having coached the back-rower in the lower grades at Penrith.
Waddell played 23 games for the Sea Eagles in his debut season last year and the 23-year-old has featured in 10 matches this year.
He joins Nick Cotric and Blake Green as the Bulldogs’ new recruits heading into next year.
The Bulldogs also expect Newcastle assistant David Furner to join Barrett’s coaching staff after he was over-looked for the head coaching job at St George Illawarra

Surely Des selects Guacamole now

I think the opposite, helps explain his selection so he's got a chance to earn a decent contract elsewhere, and let him play against the Dogs because his motivation in this game will be second to none!
Then bring in Haumole for the last couple of games 🙂

I wouldn’t describe it as a “blow” like the journo has - I think it’s a win / win and I’m happy for the bloke.

Corey tried his best while he was with us. Like Elliot, he would have been on a very modest contract and I think he performed to what his salary would suggest he is capable of.

So thanks for your service, Corey, and all the best.

Thank you Trent You still have NFI

Duck is solid enough, but he never really got a starting role with us because our backrow are 3 x 80 minute players. So I don't think we saw the best he had to offer due to lack of opportunity, but what I did see I'm not that worried about losing him, he's replaceable. Jetski and Guaca just as capable. Good luck to him at the Dogs, he isn't going to get a starting gig there either I would imagine. Maybe he is Trent's security blanky.....a Darius Waddell if you like.
