Very proud of the boys

It was obvious today Turbo needs match fitness. Against the easier teams it wasn't an issue but today we seen is he still a few games away from full fitness. If we can manage to win 2 of our next 3 and then we have a fully fit Turbo and the likes of Lawton and Walker available then we can certainly give the finals a red hot shake up! Today was a solid game and showed that resilience is back!

He’s gassed mate. It’s not him so much as the fact he’s tackling his ass off. Des needs to reflect on how he’s using Cust. Again today leaves it far to late to put him on. Needs to come on at the 30 for 25-30mins.
Agree last 8 minutes is too late, game is won or lost at that point, the team is either on tilt or on a run, if on a run you don't change, so what is the point?

Off topic (btw I’ve finished the wine, not sure if it’s wise to keep posting but whatever) what’s up with both the Trbojevic boys? Jake can’t seem to get off the tackled player and Tom looks gassed after each run. Could Jake be carrying an injury? Tom looks well short of match fitness but as long as he doesn’t break down again, he’ll get better.
Tom is clearly not 100% match fit. Each week he’ll improve. It’s also testament to how much ground he covers in both attack snd defence. Remember in D from fb you are basically moving with the ball. And think how much the ball swings both sides against a team like Penrith. It’s huge. He’ll be better for the run. Happy no hammys are gone. Gee he was so gassed after the intercept.

Considering how quiet Turbo was. Great effort.

Morgan Harper is the new KING. Porn King that is. :)
He is light years ahead of Suli with his tenacity in defence and getting better in attack. No longer is Manly’s right edge a turnstile.
Harper's early days:;)

I'm not often happy after a loss, but I'm feeling pretty good how we fought today.

Penrith capitalise on everything, and we didn't give them much. A couple of individual errors were the difference.

Defended very well in the main, except for their 2nd try in the first half.
Have to agree, thought 12 points didn't reflect the game. The thing I didn't like was the high hits, rubbing in the face in tackles, the knee in the groin in one tackle and second player in, I thought was not refereed well not not cautioned. then not to mention the offsides not called in defensive play. Very frustrating. Didn't expect to win but happy with the effort. What concerns me is that Des mentioned there are players to come back into the side....I'm worried about that decision.

We definitely let ourselves down yesterday while still playing a solid game and I understand Des‘s spray after the game, I think it had merit, without knowing what he said of course, however our boys needed to know they let that game get away and that they could of and probably should of, won it, wise not to let them think they should be satisfied with their effort or the result, (it was a reasonably good effort and overall strong game, against the benchmark side, but, we made errors and we just let ourselves down at certain stages and in certain applications to our work) they need to learn from today, learn to be hungry for next week, hungry to improve, hungry to get back in the winners circle, hungry to be successful and relentless as a team, hungry to go out next week and make sure we make up for missing the opportunity to pull off a special win today, it’s been said and I agree, I think they will learn more from today’s game than if they had of actually won, (as painful as that sounds and as much as I would of preferred we won) I’m sure that Des was making sure the boys realised that they let themselves down, his spray at full time was ok by me, because they needed to know they could of and should of won that game and not to be ok with the result, had we controlled certain aspects and periods of the game differently, the result would also definitely be different, it was important to help the boys self assess and grow, adopt a better attitude towards playing out a more complete game and killer hunger, rather than accepting the improvement over the last 4 weeks. Mick made the comment, its good to see the passion back in Des, I agree it reminds me of the old Des, pretty shrewd to not let the boys be satisfied with that game, it was a missed opportunity and you want them to know that and learn from it. Hard to be harsh overall about the game because we did dig in and the effort was there, our game has continued to go forward, we didn’t throw the towel in after their early points and worked hard to stay in the grind, but our errors and lack of execution at certain times really hurt the end result, one that I believe should of been different, Des knew the boys could of taken that game too, hence the spray at full time, hopefully it hit home in the right way and the boys take it on board, go out next weekend with a killer attitude and do a job proper on the warriors as our season swings back in the balance after yesterday.

I said to my mates at the start of the game I will be stoked if we are in the game, and we were. The panthers are just in a phase where everything they touch turns to gold because they always compete, the last try of theirs a perfect example. 12 point margin flattered them, and we missed two easy conversions. We are on the up, and the first team this year who really gave it to Penrith. Very happy with the effort.

Hate to say it but we will need Garrick and Parker to get injured otherwise Des will keep picking them, just like he did with Jetski, Suli and Boyle.

Let's face it Turbo has made a huge difference to the team but it has also been helped by injuries which has forced our coach to bring in Schuster, Harper, Olakau’atu and Sipley

Good thing had to be Manly fought and competed at all times , a couple of costly lapses and lack of execution but almost showed enough to get them and the Panthers were on their game . Think that Manly still has improvement in them , both with a couple of individuals and as a team unit in general . Credit to Croker 's defensive resolve but just think also that a sharper 9 could lift the side further . Cust probably more suited to a bench role , maybe has been mentioned before and a bit out of left field but even with the required defensive role , wonder how Walker may go as a 9 . Just with the advent of Harper showing such good form and Parker holding his own [ and Suli at his best still to most likely come into centre calculations] . Walker fit and able , may still be considered as a worthwhile centre option but again maybe not totally a wild card suggestion as a nine . Look how many previous and present 9 's have made the transition from the backs , just the defensive grind could be the only issue with Walker there .

There is no singing and champagne popping in a losing dressing room

No one celebrates losing

Once we start feeling proud of our loses we lower our Great clubs proud winning standards

We courageously fought till the end

In the end courage without execution cost us the game

We need to get more out of certain positions in the team to become a more dominant team across the park

Im certain walker would of made a few linebreaks if he played over Parker. Foran and turbo put him into half gaps and he's just too slow/cant break tackles. Mate with a full team ill list below we can be a top 4 side.

1. Turbo
2. Garrick
3. Walker
4. Harper
5. Saab
6. Foz
7. Chez
8. Paseka
9. Fainu
10. Aloiai
11. Olakau'atu
12. Schuster
13. Jake

14. Lawton
15. Sipley
16. Keppie
17. Marty

Imho thats a top 4 side.. croker cust parker Sironen suli jorge decent back ups
Yeah i have to agree. Im a parker fan but yesterday i found myself wanting walker to be in his place more than ever. Parker runs hard, does everything right, but rarely finds space other than what is given to him. There were some moments yesterday i felt walker would have made things happen given the same ball.

Parker gets his nose through the line often but you cant score or pass with your nose
