Valid point or Whinge?

The match today was a cracker because there was minimal interference from the Bunker.
We don't need a vidiot in a box deciding on rulings in slow motion. They have no feel for the game, Get rid of it. Also, the Captain's Challenge is a joke.
The Strawberry Milkshakes called for one, were completely wrong but still retained their challenge because the ref had missed an incidental error.
Just let the bloke with the whistle make the decisions. If we have confidence in the ref, and ensure they are not on the take, then we'll get matches where common sense prevails most of the time.

All valid points and well spotted. I thought the same thing today with the way the ruck was policed. So many of those plays would have been 6 again in the regular season...strange officiating. In saying that, two of the best spectacles have been the last two Panthers games (8-6 and 10-6). That goes to show that points does not equal entertainment in the slightest. Close grinding games are the ticket!
But not for nufties that want to see the 'spectacle' of wingers driving for the corner at least a dozen times in an 80 min game of footy...

Application of the rules should not change based on the opinion of footy commentators and talking heads...

Six agains on the first or second should be penalties. Melbourne just infringe on the first couple of plays as it’s often ignored or at worst one extra tackle.
Or just make it 6 again if infringement is made in the attacking 20m red zone

I really like this idea as it is more of an advantage to get a penalty in your own half...

However the powers will not do anything that slows the gameplay... ffs they are even talking about 7 tackles when you grubber into touch...

Slowest ruck of the year in today's game, and what a game it was. Much better to watch than Vlandysball.

It's always lolworthy when they ref differently in SOO and the finals series, compared to normal rounds.

And even more lolworthy when they crackdown on the flavour of the month for a few weeks, then give it up.

Happens every year, like clockwork.

Yeah, we had the foot to ball in play-the-ball crackdown, the head contact crack down, the use of sin-bin for foul play crackdown, the chicken wing crackdown, the protect-the-playmaker-from-late-hits-crackdown.... and a plethora of others. And every single one has been left to creep back in after the trend of the month wears off. It's just pathetic, inept and unprofessional from a so-called professional sport. And worst still, they often get introduced as a knee jerk reaction mid season, turn the competition into a frenzy of angst and panic with a heavy dose of confusion for a number of rounds. Mind-boggling.

We lost yesterday not because SS were amazing but because we were poor. Think everyone can agree yes? Anyway

It seems to me that the NRL 2021 has almost been 3 or 4 different competitions in the one season which is troubling.

Up until magic round you had proper Valandry ball where 6 again's ruled and it was like touch footy.

Then you had the head high contact crackdown that ran riot up until probably round 22 or 23.

And after that its like the game has gone back to the wrestle of 2019.

Finally watching keppi fall over with concussion only to see the ref completely ignore it was shocking.

Watching the storm panthers game and its classic 2019. Not many 6 against and munsters hit on Jerome even thou it was an accident was still direct contact to the head.

We used to all complaing about the Wrestling but at least you knew what we were playing. Now it's whatever whim the NRL and refs deem worthy.
Yep agree games a mess. Bit off topic but what I also noted and this is looking within, is that we have only been in 3 games this year where the margin has been 6 or less! Two one pt wins over NZ and Canberra and a 6pt win over nz. Hardly useful for winning finals footy games!

You forgot the stop play for injury last week, followed by let play continue around an injured player last night, followed by stop play for injury today.
V'Landy Ball is slowly evolving. I thing I am finally glimpsing his grand vision. V Ball will be a game where nobody knows which rules apply from week to week in order to create an unpredictable and somewhat "level" playing field to keep all fans engaged and interested every week. Brilliant!

Yep it frustrates the hell out of me... 6 against are so subjective and inconsistent - which is a ridiculous situation when they have such an impact...

The other thing is that clear penalties for deliberately slowing the play are not given because the 6 again is an option... does my head in and the Storm grubs take full advantage of it (of course)

The worst part about the 6 again is that occasionally a ref will actually call a penalty, then on the very next set what was just given as a penalty is suddenly a 6 again. It just chops and changes so much that most of the time you don't know if they will call a penalty or a 6 again.

The 6 again rule is hands down the worst rule that’s ever come into the game. Has destroyed it.

The biggest travesty of all is this 'try confirmed' crap that we have now. What's the point of the ref pointing to the spot to award the try when he can call it back...one of the great things about watching a RL try was the crash over and ref decision in the heat of the moment to get the blood pumping and excitement flowing. Now, a team goes near the try line and you just hold your breath as you wait for the numerous replays and 1000 rules to scrutinise over before the goal is finally kicked. It's pathetic and goes against the whole concept of entertainment, which is essentially what RL is. No spontaneous enjoyment anymore, just anxiety over what might happen once the bunker gets involved...it's sickening what they've done.

In the last 5 minutes, Penrith on the attack in the Storm 20m zone.
Storm holding down, wrestling, slowing each play the ball. Not one 6 again call, let alone a penalty.

As soon as Melb got the ball. 6 again to gift them up field.

WTF?? Where is the consistency?
Holding onto the tackled player as long as you can has been taken to new highs by Penrith and Melb. Melb being the originators and masters of this. Got a feeling the NRL will be putting something in place to discourage this next year, but then again not holding my breath.
