Upgrade Barrett now!!!

Well I had a night of sleep and I more stressed about where we are headed than my job which I saying something given I do on the road sales.
* this lack of attitude in defence has been there since Trent days. Many seen this after our golden run of 10 games in middle of 17. The saints game comes to mind.
* my concern here is we start again from beginning. There many players here with poor and lazy attitudes. Ball control is pathetic.
* Trent inexperience still in his third season. Tactical inept I mean tom not the most mobile fullback and continues to run gauntlet with him in defensive line. Our tactics have not been refined from inside balls from Jake and dce and play off back of Martin tapau off loads. There zero early ball to either Dylan or Kelly.
* rolling over to player requests for better deals elsewhere - the Blake green issue now Darcy manager seen that got a better deal and there we have it Trent is a soft target.
* the cap issue - the club need to take some owner ship here. I guessing with dce, matin tapau, walker and both turbos there a lot of our cap gone there. That’s irresponsible imo. With this in total cop the fine and renegotiate taking cap reduction over this season.
* this season I can’t see getting any better. A lot of lower clubs in Newcastle, west’s, warriors have recruited outstandingly. We rested on what we had would be fine and lost most underrated player in Blake green.
* the 6 issue - well this is yours Trent when you let green go because you did not want to match the deal. The aftermath has been pathetic putting a kid in who a nsw cup player. Get someone there next year Sezer go after Albert Kelly get someone in there.
* this won’t be a quick turnaround unfortunately. While we pick uate on that wing everyone will target that side in there attack.
* I love to see Maguire come in and put some boots up the arse but can’t see that happening

I repeat my question from the game day thread:
Name one player who hasn't gone backwards under Trent Barrett?

Api, AFB and Walker

Kelly, Parker ( they shouldn't count though as the youngsters should be improving with experience alone, despite the coach)

Where's the aggression. Controlled aggression not the penalty laden rubbish. The pack needs a reality hit from someone like Spud Carrol. Gets some mongrel into them. Playing like bunch of soft c*&ks.

Well I’m not on the band wagon.

17 players should take the blame for yesterday’s ( and others) fiasco.

Yes I agree , choosing Crocker over Hastings looks dumb BUT, are any of you at training to see what he does / says / how he acts???

Trent may not have had much choice.

Lewis Brown I’d agree with, but he seems to be gone now.

This “ let’s blame the coach and sack him” concept isn’t new, but if and when it happens it rarely works immediately anyway.

Face facts everyone, we have a team chock full of plodders with a few gooduns.

AND even having a gazillion dollar team of Stars doesn’t guarantee you wins every week.

We have a below average side and yesterday we played one of the top 4 sides, and it showed.

And if you think that’s bad wait until we play St Merge!!

We just don’t have a team willing to compete nor a team with any confidence.

Sorry but sacking the coach will not change a single thing!

Winnyason's comment about failure to get early ball to Kelly and Walker is one of the fundamental problems in the present tactics, and the Sea Eagles lack of penetration in the outside backs.

Last year Kelly, Walker, Uate, Taufua and Tom T. were scoring truck loads of tries. This year, even when the forwards perform, there is no life in that same back line. Barrett surely cant be blind to the one factor causing that. Everyone else can see it. Croker is not effective as five eighth.

For goodness sake Barrett. You've got yourself a blind spot there. I think you see Croker as your apprentice, a young Trent making his way like you had to do. I think you believe you can make a champion of this kid. Maybe in a few years that might happen. But today he is stiffling the attack.

I'm no coach, but I know where I do have skills. And listening to others, even if they dont have those skills is always wise because we all miss things we either just arent seeing becaue we are too close or dont want to see. We all have our blind spots, and frankly Trent, this is one of yours. We arent coaches, but we are all seeing something you dont want to see. Croker at this stage is a mistake.

^ I don't know, Mark. It'd also be fair to say the Tigers "have a team chock full of plodders with a few gooduns". And they were missing Russell Packer, whose been one of their best all season. Hell, it might even be fair to say the Melbourne Storm have been a team chock full of plodders with a few gooduns for years now. A team low on talent can also be well coached and play beyond the limits of their abilities.
I think the problem with us is that we keep making the same mistakes and there are no real signs that we are coached at all. Do we have effective defensive structures? How about attacking options in the opposition's red zone? A kicking game? Any game plan other than throw it to the nearest Trbojevic and hope for the best?
Sacking Barrett might not be the answer, but he has to take responsibility for the results and he has to get better.

And what of continuously sticking with Uate? He is virtually costing us games with shocking errors on tackles 0 and 1.
Hes been poor all year and ive been prepared to give him benefit of the doubt, based on last years form.
But if he is still named tomorrow, ive lost faith in Barrett..
