If the new rules are all about keeping the ball in play more, then the side-effects like momentum shifts, blow outs etc can be countered by bringing back the 5m defensive line. That will bring back some stability and keep games closer. Halves would have to get more creative like in the 80's and not rely on tiring defences after multiple 6 agains.
All these rules have not been well thought out and it will kill the game if games are decided on 10-15 min momentum shifts. Bad for viewers if games are finished before half time, I used to watch all games until full time with close scores keeping it interesting. Now its just boring knowing the game is likely over after a team gets out to a 20 point lead.
it still doesn't excuse the lack of effort mainly ball control and missed tackles displayed from our blokes on the weekend.
