The Manly fullback experienced hamstring tightness late in the match against the Warriors last Friday and has been on a modified training program during the week.

While Tom was running freely in training today, the club is taking a conservative approach to have him ready for Sunday week’s home game against the Eels.

Seriously what can Manly actually do at this stage? I don't think moving him to a 'roving' centre role is an option at club level, State of Origin is a bit different.

To his credit Turbo offered to reduce his player payments but this was declined by the NRL.

I'm a big believer that rules should apply equally to everyone and contracts honoured but I think the day may come where the NRL has two options here. Consider reducing Turbo's impact on Manly's salary cap and have the benefit of one of the games most popular drawcards continuing to play, if only a limited number of games per year, or lose him altogether to the game through a voluntary medical retirement.

We don't see it but players talk about how Turbo trains harder than anyone to get back on the paddock. He has already indicated he wants to give back but recovery from a new injury, combined with his salary impact on the club, the disappointment of the fans and the scrutiny of the press, must weigh heavily on his psyche (even with a majority of positive support).

So no hamstring tear but hes not playing. How is an extra week going to help here. This is just delaying the inevitable. This just gets more rediculous each year. Time to go back to America and get sorted or retire.

Got to have some empathy for Turbo, bloke puts in best player at the club but keeps picking up a niggle that puts him in the crowd.

His mindset would be a tumultuous mix of anxiety and determination being the competitor he is, fingers crossed for Turbo going forward that he can beat the mind battle.

Turbos career reminds me a lot of Brett Papworths Rugby League stint.

Granted, he has played a lot more games, but the missed opportunities are as countless as Papworths, given both their skill set.

Like my Mum used to say, I'm not angry, just disappointed.

Meanwhile DCE fit to play.

How many games has he missed in 15 years thru injury? 5 or 6 ?
