You have some 30 young, fit and highly competitive males, pushed them to their physical and mental limits, crammed them in to the same accommodation for a week, raised their testosterone levels to "macho" then let them out for a couple of beers.

I still fail to see why you need to train hard (call it two steps forward), then top it off with a bender (at least one back). It's such a stupid remnant of the old pre professional days.

You know how you'd avoid these things happening..? Ban it! Simple! If players want to drink that badly, find another job where you can.

I don't think you need to ban a night on the drink after a long stint of pre season, you just need a strong leadership group within the playing roster to set the standard and the consequences of anyone stepping over the line.

Prime example is over on the Kangaroo tour, there were plenty of evening bonding sessions, but do you think any young player is going to toe the line when you have senior players like Smith and Thurston to answer to?

Whether we have any players that demand that respect is possibly debatable.

May be, or are you thinking of Sporting news who 5 days ago, stated, " that Curtis Sironen was showing signs of being a stayer as a loose canon" What ever that means!!!

I don't specifically recall Curtis's name being publicly named and shamed recently. So not sure why Sporting news would make such a statement about our new back rower.

Come to think of it, the only negative noise i can recall about any of our boys in recent weeks is that some of them played up in Coffs.

Hmmm we may never know.
