Garrick should have been on wing with Lehi at FB and Faululu at centre… WTF! Who is running this team?

Love Ray Rays passion, but he's so vulnerable under the high ball. And his hands let him down a lot as well. But unstoppable 5m out from the line tho.

How bad was that drop from a beautiful cut out pass to give him space… 🤦‍♂️

Atkins was atrocious.
Our centres, Garrick and Koula were $hit despite being the more experienced players in the team.
Waddell tried hard but boneheaded errors killed whatever good he did
Gordie was all mouth and niggle but did SFA
Centres, FB and wingers were all out of position.
Maddison garbage.
Mr 201cm garbage hands.

Takau was decent
Lehi was promising again.
Bully was one of the best.
Arfur was ok, but seems he will never be anymore than serviceable.

One day I hope to see referees actually penalise Penrith for their constant 2nd effort push downs on the tackled players. Obviously coached right through the club.

I wish we could do that. We seem to try as hard as possible to get off the tackled player, otherwise you here the ‘“Jake, Jake” whistle.

And then we have to watch the Parra Scum gifted penalties for opposition timing out when packing their own scrum… when was the last time? Much like the old new “rolling the ball” penalty.

As good as Hopoate is proving to be, we're still a much better team with Turbo at fullback.

The problem is, Lehi is too good to be left out or on the bench for 60-70 minutes, but who do you move for him??

I would have Clayton above Garrick as a centre anyday.

And im pretty sure we have kicking options they just need to take it seriously ( not have a part time kicker mentality) and get practising.

Well one thing we've learned. Jake Arthur is no where near a 1st grade halfback.

His kicking game is pretty hopeless unfortunately. I reckon my grandmother could kick it further.

The refereeing in the two trials tonight was so nit-picking that I fear fans are in for a penaltyathon season. Penalties for such nebulous reasons. Six-agains, leg pulls, time violations...

Just confirms how easily a ref can manage a result.
We were pathetic so there is no excuse for us. But the second match was just as stop-start as ours. Seems like both refs were punishing the NRL for missing out on a trip to Vegas. Certainly the flow of both matches was ruined by the refs.

To be fair, I think the refs are probably told to be particularly nitpicky in the trials and probably even the first few rounds in the hopes of getting teams into good habits. Happens every year with the ‘crack down’. the NRL deny it, but it’s obvious.

No. Some are. But, no.

I was hoping to see more from Simpkin ,that was the perfect game for him to stand out and control the team .
He provided crisp service but not much else ,was hoping he would cement his spot.
FMD -I really hope we see Garrick back to wing asap.How the coaches don't see this, is ludicrous.

I think we're panicking because we have gone backwards in our forward ranks, apart form Haumole, we lack punch, we lost Fonua Blake only to rely on the signings of Lodge, Brown, Takeaho, guys who are at the end of their careers, were still waiting for Paseka to be the player he should be, as for Aloiai, just another Tigers reject.
We tried to get Tom Fleggler a season or two back so we obviously had to money to get someone of quality yet we settled for aging players, such as Chee Kam

Agree that our forward pack is a big concern IMO.

When the whips are cracking, I can't see us getting anywhere near the top 2 or 3 teams. I'm not talking about a round 5 in a home game v Melbourne - I'm talking about September football. Let's face it the Roosters smashed us in that semifinal, and they were a class or two behind Penrith and Melbourne last year.

While I applaud the building of "depth" in the squad with limited spending ability, the forward pack is another year older and definitely not better. We only have 3 players Haumole, Paseka and Jake that could be considered class players. Bully is the only other one I can get excited about. The rest of them are fringe first graders and generally big and old.

And the hooker part of the equation is still a concern. Croker looks cooked and GCKT will not be a starting first grade quality player. Simpkin is our hope, but i cant see him being an above average hooker in the NRL.

All is not lost - we should still make the finals again and there are plenty of promising juniors on the books. But we need fresh blood in the pack to challenge for a premiership.
