Just being pedantic but Bob Fulton won 22 in his first year with Manly, in 1983.

I appreciate that your framing probably only considers the debut coaching year as opposed to just cracking their Manly start.

As a win-rate for first year in the role as head coach, Toovey's record this year (70.8%) is 4th behind Fulton in 1983 (84.6%), Willey in 1970 (second time in the role - 72.7%) and Fulton upon his return in 1993 (72.7%).

You must remember Hamster Fulton is God !!!

Bozo always had good teams until the end. Remember that golden team that was full of internationals (no salary cap) Tooves never got a full season of preparation and was chasing and recruiting staff while others had already planned many months before. Des never started out great but Tooves will learn alot from his first year. Injuries knocked us around much more than in our premiership year.
