Tom 305 - Forwards 450

First Grader
This outstanding fullback ran for over 305 metres....All forwards total 448
Apart from Jake and Lawrence, boys in the middle lacked ambition and desire which shows clearly with the numbers.
Plenty of excuses about big men out, but other lightweight forwards still eat up decent numbers....this is embarrassing and the boys in the middle need a rocket.

I don't really think it's fair to compare fullback metres to front row. They get the ball often with no one in front for thirty metres. They make a break from a kick return it's always close to ninety metres ahead with a broken field. It's apples and oranges but I see the point you are trying to make.

Tom 6 tackles, all other forwards 246.

The guys is a defensive hack, now wonder souths scored so many points with this lazy slob at the back who is only in it for the glory runs when put through a gaping hole by Uate to get his numbers up.

I can only assume this is the OP's opinion

Would like to see how many hitups overall backs v forwards; I reckon our backs did more. First three sets of the second half and our forward took two hitups, one of which was directly from a kickoff.

You expect Tom to tackle in the front line -
Look up the word "fullback"

Not trying to compare
Over 300m is a good day out for a FB
Basically saying the forwards need to rip in more and have a dig....a few were 40 odd metres or less...pretty ordinary

Ooh stats, can I play too?

George Burgess ran for 123 metres in just 29 minutes off the bench. The entire Sea Eagles bench ran for just 43 metres between them.
Those are scary stats....forget what I said and change the title to this.
It does show how much we missed the big boppers mid 1st half and help explain how it played out....and just maybe...there are better bench option even with those missing.

no I don't - I was pointing out the stupidity of comparing forwards with fullbacks, I thought it was obvious.

simply put this is a dumb post you made
Really??
450 Total metres between forwards including bench players is ok and cant see a fullback eating up close to this total is NOT the right balance ?

The obvious and dumb are correct - you just forgot to use the mirror.

Thanks Ricardo - at least you get the picture - not a matter of comparing backs with forwards - more emphasizing 1 back, whether it be a fullback/winger or centre made close to that of an entire pack of forwards - very poor indeed.

I get what you were trying to compare - but Tom also scored a 90m try, so that's his numbers for the day thoroughly skewed.

Agree that there were a lot of sets where the outside backs were doing too many of the hit-ups, however.

Sadly us sausage roll eating dummy fans have known for at least 3 years that we need to recruit some big powerful props because we have never effectively replaced guys like Kite and King. Lussick was a start but we need more pronto!!
