Tof Sipley

Ok I take back what I said about Penns being too stingey to pay for a lawyer
(Mestrov probably demanded it for this one!)
Can’t say I’d be looking to procure his services again, seems like hatchet job at best, 11 mins, 4 weeks, ….….. then the Judiciary what a joke, absolute wrong case to send a message or make an example of, definitely has a stink about it, which doesn’t surprise me……actually this was the moment the Judiciary had an opportunity to exercise a balanced judgement, yer right…….

Unpopular opinion reading the previous posts but Sipley deserved a good stint on the sidelines. Imagine Blake lawrie committed the same tackle on Jason Saab and broke Saabs leg. Would you all be saying 1 or 2 weeks?

I do see your point, but if Lawrie was "stunned" like Sip we can all (bar the panel) clearly see it was completely accidental and accept it.

I understand Seibs was proud of our lawyer and the way he handled the case.

“We knew we were going to get 4 weeks, so it was really a free throw at the stumps tonight. I was proud of the way our lawyer spoke good, and Sips for the way he sat still and said thank you to the judge at the end. I must say though the scheduling of this hearing on a Tuesday night has been a massive disruption to our season and means we will probably miss the 8.”

It seems Sipley is a good man and to be honest I have personally wanted him to succeed in his career. One of those fringe guys who you just want to take that next leap to a bona fide NRL first grade player.

And in my view he actually got to that point sometime early last year for 4 or 5 games, before another injury came his way.

To me he has regressed this season and at age 30 his speed and lateral movement is just not good enough.

Surely this is his last season in maroon and white.

Yeah, its a pity he's never managed an extended run without either injury or suspension putting him back to square 1.
Certainly can be damaging as a ball runner.
Fingers crossed the rest of this season is smooth sailing for the big guy. ('optimistic')

Hopefully that is just about the end of him in Manly colours. His offside play last night as well as the hip drop, cost us a sloppy win. With all the injuries, Spoon will finally be forced into making a change or two. My guess is Navale and Patolo. But it's Spoon so he might pick four wingers on the bench to try and out think Ivan Cleary. Get ready for another free throw at the stumps press conference excuse from our coach.
Watching it back, looks to me like there was genuine confusion between the players about what we were doing. And whether Brooks or Cherry-Evans was getting the ball. Toff thought the ball was going to Cherry. These things happen, can't pin that result on him.

I remember Xerri got Saab with a 1 last year which resulted in him missing our final 3 games. From memory Xerri had all his weight on the lower leg/ankle while coming down with no mitigating factors. Xerri got a 1 week suspension & was back for game 1 of finals.

Well played……
