Dads army would probably put up a better fight than this lot.

This game has the same feel as the Newcastle game for me. Zero confidence. We may win but I will not be surprised if we lose. Away game on GC. What could go wrong!
Yeah, even though our win-loss, win-loss pattern suggests a win, I don't have a good feeling about this one. If the opposition decides they might also want to win the game, we will struggle.

Usually you'd say, "It's not about the other team, it's about us", but I'm not so sure with this current Manly squad. Winning or losing seems to depend entirely on whether or not we encounter any resistance.

I had more concerns for last week than this week. Tom back, Taukeiaho back. Sure no Lehi but that's a like for like with Turbo. I think with weight of Origin off his shoulders DCE will benefit. Croker with a few games under his belt now... just feels like a safer beat this week. One certainty I think is a 50+ combined teams points game.

Bigger picture: there is a mental issue team-wise. Last week a perfect example. I'm not a DCE knocker - far from it as I think he's still one of the best halves going round and when everyone's over the 'bag DCE' syndrome, passing years will show him to be one of the best ever - but it's not just the body that ages but mental speed. Just takes a bit more time to sum things up, make the quick decision, etc. His time is up in my opinion, simply due to Old Man Time waits for no-one. I also believe DCE has always been primarily an individual play half rather than a full on game manager. Luke Brooks is of a similar ilk IMO. From what I've seen of Jamal Fogarty I think next year will bring a slightly different mix. My one concern is that given his age this is a short term fix. If Joey Walsh is seen as the future in the halves, I'd bring him in next year.

Still, with the team we have, there's probably another two year premiership window for Manly. Never say never, but even if we finish in the top eight, this year has passed us. I'd love nothing more than to have egg on my face come the GF, but realistically from what I've seen of the head space of this team, ain't gonna happen.

As with most games this year, it will depend more on the mindset of the opposition than us. If they turn up to play after Des put a rocket up them after last week, then we will struggle. We haven’t demonstrated a willingness to get in the trenches with a committed opposition so far this year.

If they turn up to play after Des put a rocket up them after last week,
Des has had 2 full preseasons and One full season and a half of trying to lift his players and his rocket has ran out of gas.
Des has the lowest winning margin at the titans at 30% and that is Trent Barrett standards

How the Mighty Des has fallen
I thought I would never see the day
