Time to pull the trigger

Possibly…..with Ennis taking over as assistant from Hales. Jrbo retires & takes on Dymock’s roll as defense coach. Cliffy takes on the mentoring of our halves. Snake the backs! Ennis’s primary roll is hooker / dummy half tactician.
Backs…Trbo, Saab, Koula, Talau, Garrick, Lehi, Faulalo, Willett
Halves…Fogarty, Brooks, Walsh, Onitini Large
Hookers…Simpkin, Muagututia, Ashton Large
Forwards…Paseka, Bully, TKO, Olakau’atu, Navale, Laiafi, Hart, Bryan, Patolo, Pua’avase, Sykes, Dunford, ?????????????????
As a start!!!!
Yes that's not a bad start at all. Good mixture of old (experience) and new. Plus some buy-ins with a smarter cap restructure and we are back in the game for 26. The really big decision I feel is around Jake. I do hope his family and friends get behind him and encourage him to call time on his playing career. It's definitely time. He would make an excellent assistant coach or defence coach at the club. Convert his 2026 contract into a 5-year coaching contract. It's not that complicated. Done everyday in my world. Just needs his buy-in. Similar hard decisions required at Management and Coaching level.

There's only one guy who can make these decisions.

Today's selections confirm to me that Boldy has to go. He has no vision for the future.
I'd love to see the Walker Brothers given a crack at NRL coaching, even if it is with another club. I'm sure they would revolutionise some aspects of the sport.

What have the walker Bros achieved.. One QRL Cup title 10 years ago. They are right up there in the over rated department... IMO.

We could win four in a row if Dce actually tackled and took the line on. There is no way we can win all four games if he plays like he has most of this year.

He gives up two or three tries a game with his defence and our other players constantly have to cover for him so he disturbs the whole defensive pattern.

He also does not take the line on so all the opposition has to do is mark inside and outside him.

He would be in the bottom four halfbacks in the comp surely.
Cannot believe Waddell selected again…..I’m over it. One thing is a guarantee & that’s the Trbos & Waddell are certainties for selection no matter what!
I must say Wadell is also one player i cringe watching play a sport he does not belong in. Thanks to the MORON/S who signed him up.

It’s stated that there are 2 certainties in life….death & taxes! There really are 3…..death, taxes, the Trbos & Waddell selections!

Those jumping on the whipping boy ( Waddell) okay , let’s say you’re dropping him completely this week.

Who’s your run on edge in place of him????

He hardly got a run early in the year but with so many injuries what choice do they have ??

Navale is a lock ( on the bench )

But I’m genuinely keen to understand who you’d pick.

MCK everyday of the week mate! He outplayed Waddell last week & was more effective in attack.

You have a point Mark

But the real point here is he was next man up in the squad of 30..., not 5th or 6th choice .. he was our number one back up
That is a rugby league crime

MCK did surprise me.

Waddell's best talent (or lack thereof) has been in his effort. It was noticeably absent against the Raiders. There was a loose ball right in front of him, he showed no urgency to get it, and the Raiders scored.

Someone could be a 350kg 65 year old diabetic, but if they're having a crack, I'd prefer them everyday over an athlete who doesn't care.

And ...
"really proud of the boys effort, our "Weapons" just didn't get going and they are a really good team" 😂🤣

Sorry Seibs but I've heard enough, I've backed you for 4 seasons now.

Same old same old
At least he’s dropped “a good test of where we’re at” ….

Whilever we are a mathematical chance we all know it won't happen.

But even the mathemagicians will give up on our hopes soon.

When it does happen and all bets are off I'd love to see the skipper given a rest to "work on his tackle technique"

And then trickle through some others as the case may be.

True. Manly has just done enough it seems to avoid the spoon for another year.

But we both know it cannot go on like this.

A start might be to make a statement, before season’s end. Like Walsh (or Wakeham, that would really piss off DCE) in for DCE and Faulalo for Saab. Navale to the bench. Start using these players before we lose them.
Might as well ask for the ladle without the spoon...good enough is close enough

Many disagree with me when I said 2 years ago, that DCE is the bottom 4 halfbacks in the comp. Many here says DCE is a great halfback. they love him. he is a legend. and that DCE carries the team single handedly. I cant stand this bloke since the titans backflip.
Being retrospective is everything about how the Manly lineup looks today.
We think we were getting same DCE that won the title in 2011 and the same Turbo that carved up in 2021. and the same TKO that won the premiership years ago with the Roosters. Age is just a number guys.

The coach doesn’t have the standing, respect, track record or confidence to do anything that might get the players offside. Hence minimal team changes, including retaining a captain who publicly stated he wants out.

He doesn’t appear to be a highly technical coach, given we still seem to be playing rugby league as it was pre 6 agains, and he hasn’t done anything to suggest he is a good development coach, given the lack of fresh blood being given a shot.

Not sure why anyone would think he is the best option to see us through the rebuild we so clearly need over the next few years. But apparently Scott does, who apparently believes there are many acceptable excuses why we have stagnated under this coach’s tenure, even though he sacked the previous coach because of something completely outside his control (pride-gate) on the basis we are a “results driven business”.
Well, if there was ever a brilliant rugby league mind, surely it is Scott Penn to make these calls. 🤷‍♂️
