Time to pull the trigger

Bob old son, I seem to recall reading your predictions (plural) that we would pickup the ‘Spoon this season?

Certainly been a few times when i thought it was a possibility.

Our 9 wins, compared to Souths (who are coming 16th) 7 wins shows just how close we are to the bottom sides.

A whole closer to the mark than those silly people who tipped us up near the top with teams that have won 15 plus games.

Funny how many of Manly's most passionate and knowledgeable supporters (ie Silvertails posters!) are first to give up on the team!
I just did the NRL ladder predictor and Manly comes in 8th 🙂
You also had us winning each of the past three weeks if my memory is correct. We have been flogged three weeks running. Positivity for positivity's sake is so Ned Flanders.

I did the same yesterday and we are in with a real chance of making the 8.
Last night was the final straw for me. I won't be watching anymore games this season. I canned Kayo despite their offer for a discount. It gets me too annoyed at present. If we win a couple along the way it won't really mean that much. How we recruit in the off season will determine my level of investment next year. The crap narrative and cheap talk around this footy club has been hard to cop.

We could win four in a row if Dce actually tackled and took the line on. There is no way we can win all four games if he plays like he has most of this year.

He gives up two or three tries a game with his defence and our other players constantly have to cover for him so he disturbs the whole defensive pattern.

He also does not take the line on so all the opposition has to do is mark inside and outside him.

He would be in the bottom four halfbacks in the comp surely.

True. Manly has just done enough it seems to avoid the spoon for another year.

But we both know it cannot go on like this.

A start might be to make a statement, before season’s end. Like Walsh (or Wakeham, that would really piss off DCE) in for DCE and Faulalo for Saab. Navale to the bench. Start using these players before we lose them.

Lol you're worried about losing Brandon Wakeham?
(pretty sure the others are under contract)
Yes they are and no I am not worried about Wakeham.

However contracts can be broken.

The coach needs to start holding the team to a fair level of accountability. Even with the injuries to several forwards, the coach still has other options across the team.

Love it.

And love your posts on here.

The coach doesn’t have the standing, respect, track record or confidence to do anything that might get the players offside. Hence minimal team changes, including retaining a captain who publicly stated he wants out.

He doesn’t appear to be a highly technical coach, given we still seem to be playing rugby league as it was pre 6 agains, and he hasn’t done anything to suggest he is a good development coach, given the lack of fresh blood being given a shot.

Not sure why anyone would think he is the best option to see us through the rebuild we so clearly need over the next few years. But apparently Scott does, who apparently believes there are many acceptable excuses why we have stagnated under this coach’s tenure, even though he sacked the previous coach because of something completely outside his control (pride-gate) on the basis we are a “results driven business”.

I agree.

If he had however dropped DCE within a week or two of his ‘Coming out’, who knows, we might be sitting higher on the ladder. The other players thus respecting the coach for having the will to tell DCE, ‘You’re fired!’

Of course, being the post-Arko/Biscuits/Bozo/Des/Tooves Manly, aka the ‘Also ran/mediocre Manly’, he might have needed the Strovster’s and Mr Fluffy’s backing.

either way Seibs will be coach next year
Possibly…..with Ennis taking over as assistant from Hales. Jrbo retires & takes on Dymock’s roll as defense coach. Cliffy takes on the mentoring of our halves. Snake the backs! Ennis’s primary roll is hooker / dummy half tactician.
Backs…Trbo, Saab, Koula, Talau, Garrick, Lehi, Faulalo, Willett
Halves…Fogarty, Brooks, Walsh, Onitini Large
Hookers…Simpkin, Muagututia, Ashton Large
Forwards…Paseka, Bully, TKO, Olakau’atu, Navale, Laiafi, Hart, Bryan, Patolo, Pua’avase, Sykes, Dunford, ?????????????????
As a start!!!!

Many disagree with me when I said 2 years ago, that DCE is the bottom 4 halfbacks in the comp. Many here says DCE is a great halfback. they love him. he is a legend. and that DCE carries the team single handedly. I cant stand this bloke since the titans backflip.
