NRL 2020: Dragons release statement after Tim Lafai AVO arrest

St George Illawarra has responded to reports star player Tim Lafai was arrested over an alleged domestic duties argument.

NRL: Paul Kent hit NRL CEO Todd Greenberg right between the eyes with his article this morning, see what the Fox League Live crew have to say on the matter.

Dragons star Tim Lafai has been issued with an apprehended violence order over an alleged domestic dispute on Good Friday.
St George Illawarra released a statement on Sunday morning confirming the club was aware of the police matter.
The Sunday Telegraph first reported Lafai was arrested after police were called to his family home south of Wollongong.
According to the report, NSW Police will allege Lafai and wife Jacqui argued over claims the NRL star chose not to spend time with his children — choosing instead to train inside his home gym with a friend.
Police allege Jacqui Lafai said the pair had argued, but she was not physically assaulted.
Neighbours reportedly called police to attend the scene after hearing loud noised from the house.

Another member of the family reportedly told police at the scene Lafai was “allegedly smashing up his house and being aggressive”.
He is alleged to have punched walls with his fists. Police will reportedly allege he was spotted at the scene with blood on his knuckles.
There’s no suggestion Lafai had been violent towards his family.

He was served with an AVO, but no charges have been laid.
The Dragons confirmed the NRL integrity unit has been made aware of the incident.
“St George Illawarra are aware of a police matter involving Dragons centre Tim Lafai,” the club said in a brief statement.
“The NRL integrity unit have been informed. As this is a deeply personal and private matter, at this stage the Dragons will be making no further comment.”
The 2020 NRL season is scheduled to resume on May 28.

Luckily for Lafai.... consistency is over-rated. Todd'll look him in the eye.

Social distancing - quarantine - Easter.... a danger time for a lot of families. Everyone....chill out.

Not sure he's done anything illegal. Smashing up you own property is dumb and I'm sure it disturbed his wife and children. May be 'roid rage. Can't see any discipline being meted out by the NRL. Stupidity is its own punishment.

Maybe he hasn't - if the allegations are untrue.

However fyi - if on the other hand he did as alleged he could be guilty of intimidation and damaging property. Each carries up to 5 years jail
Intimidation includes causing a reasonable apprehension of damage to any person or property - so doesn't actually have to cause damage, and it doesn't matter who owns the property.
The offence of damaging or destroying property applies to your own property if jointly owned with someone else - which typically applies in a marriage situation.

In all honesty, don't you think at the start of the year you could get the Big League and mark down which players were going to make a goose of themselves. Each club has at least 2-3 of them. The way they are managed sorts out the good coaches from the duds. Will be interesting to see how Des manages Fainu, although I think Suli and Walker are lucky Des is at the club.

She's probably a Category 11 griefer and he's most likley a 5 Star muppet - good combo for a bit of a blow up over nothing

Stmerge sack Lafai.
Manly release Suli in deal with dragons.
Suli eats 500 burgers to celebrate new contract.
Suli carves it up ( a few chickens).
Suli never reaches potential.
Spot for Schuster at 6.
Walker goes back to his proper position in the centres.
Happy days all round.

Seems this has been misrepresented somewhat. Claims by his wife that it is a mental health issue for Tim and that he is seeking help.
