Thursday night footy at Brookie...

I’ll be attending and I’ve roped in 6 mates plus their kids.

Hopefully if there are enough kids they will look after each other and I can drink beers and watch the game. Maybe even yell a swear word at Benji when my kids are rolling down the back of the hill on cardboard.

SO good to hear, awesome to bring friends and get the word around!!! Oh how good is it sliding down on a cardboard box down the back of the hill as a kid... a rite of passage for Manly supporters!!!

If we crack 6,000 I’ll be relieved. And we never seem to go any good in these ****e time slots.
Who’s coming from furthest away?

I hope it's a big crowd and I've yet to experience the horrors of the traffic a lot of you go through to get to the game so I believe it's more than just me going "get to the game ya lazy buggers!"

One thing is for certain, once the monkey typists saw that this was a Manly Thursday night game, you can bet they all got their pencils sharpened ready to write:
"Manly in the top 5 and still can't crack a decent crowd. What an insult to their team and the women in league round!" And never, ever mention the fact that there's nothing stopping Tiger's fans from making the trip as well!

But I'm hoping 12,000 + make the trip. The big crowd sounds great on tv as I watch all by myself, in silence. Even the dog leaves the room!

What a stupid time-slot, and what a stupid time-slot to give a suburban stadium. It's the nrl going out of it's way to destroy at the ground crowds.

I wonder when the Broncos play this week?

Thanks for the post Ella.

I think the crowd number will have a 5 at the front of it

I’ll have to sweet talk the wife into doing the 5am shift with the little man tomorrow as these games go to midnight for me

Lucky i read this post. Who knew they played footy on a thursday. Late night shopping night. I never watch thursdays

I will be there for sure, need plenty of fans/members to put on their warm clothes and get down there to cheer the boys on - a VIG tonight for how our season finishes.

Should be a very pleasant evening, clear skies and cool/refreshing ambience at Lottoland

Bloody stupid night for Football, everyone hated Monday nights and the NRL said “ The fans don’t want Monday nights and the NRL have listened”.......they did, and changed Monday to Thursday.

Both are death times , impossible to get numbers to.

5850 at best
Stand up to the broadcasters, it will pay off in the long term. Let us wait till the weekend to watch a game, the anticipation adds to the experience. When fans end up watching too many games because they are on TV almost every day it erodes the mystique and the imagination and in my own experience this was one of the the things that made me hooked on the game as a youngster.
Not to mention the modern game has become so formulaic it quickly becomes boring if you are not emotionally invested in one of the teams. Let fans wait all week and they will actually attend their team's match whenever possible, and probably watch it again later on TV too.

Back in the day ,you would get 10,000 at the Jet Club on a Thursday night.Even the team would be there lights out ,looking at you Beav....

Agree Thursday night is a bad night for footy at suburban grounds.

I must say I do enjoy being able to watch a game on Thursday night on the TV though.

If it's the corporate & TV dollars the NRL are chasing on the Thursday night & Friday 6pm timeslots maybe they should only schedule the out of town games at those times?

So Thursdays & Fridays 6pm would be games played in QLD, VIC & NZ only.

That way all of the suburban grounds like Brookie, Leichardt, Campbelltown, Penrith etc. would only ever be scheduled at Fridays 8pm & Saturdays & Sundays.

Just a thought.
