Thursday night footy at Brookie...

Ah man, we have been able to avoid it so far, but it’s come the time we have to play in the awful Thursday night timeslot.

It has been the best feeling I have ever experienced at Brookie (well, apart from the battle of brookvale - but I was only 11 years old when that happened lol!!) lately with back to back crowds of 15,000+ which look and feel like a whole lot more!

Now Thursday night games aren’t great for us. Not only is it difficult for opposition fans to travel to the Northern Beaches after work, and then get back for work early the next morning, but it’s difficult for anyone who doesn’t live in the area. For people with young kids too, a late finish is a bit of a struggle with school the next day.

My Dad and I were discussing what we think the crowd will be tomorrow night. Dad (who use to be an avid Silvetails poster back in its early days - I’m trying to get him back posting!!) thinks we will be able to get a crowd of 9,000-10,000. I’m being a bit more pessimistic and think we realistically will only get 6,000.

What are your guys predictions? I’m interested to hear. I’m basing it off crowds of previous years, but I will be so happy if I am proven wrong, and if our current form is inspiring people to make that extra bit of effort to get to the game.

Anyways, I know so many of you don’t live locally, or even in Sydney, or NSW. BUT, if you can get to the game tomorrow night, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO! I know the boys really appreciate our support, and it’s been nice to prove people wrong by getting some really good crowds at Brookie this season! A 7.50pm time slot makes it a lot easier to get to for people who finish working at 5pm in the CBD/other places around Sydney. And just think, the drive home will be SO worth it, as well as work on a Friday with a (hopefully!!!) Manly win.

Thursday night footy sucks sometimes, but it’s our only one at home for the season, so let’s get behind the boys and begin our winning streak from now, all the way through to the first Sunday of October @;)

Given the clear (yet cool weather!) and the decent form the team is in, I would hope for around 8-9k even with it being Thursday night.

Most Thursday night games in general only get around the 7k mark so I hope we can get more than that - I’ll be there!

Great article for promoting our home game @ellakasmar

You know we have all these different NRL themed rounds throughout the year. (Many for good causes).
Why can’t clubs be allowed to come up with their own named round of their choice.
Tomorrow night should be the ‘bring the whole family out/ crack a sickie Friday (kids included)/ and and enjoy a three-day weekend round’.Everyone’s a winner. We’d pull another 15+ for sure.

Honestly, Manly could do this themselves. They could make kids come free with an adult ticket, or the first 1,000 in get a free flag promotion. However, as it is Women in League round this week, it is likely we would be criticised for taking the focus away from that. Then again, could always use that to market tomorrow nights game too!

I know they’re doing the URM promotion for the free kids tickets but so many people still don’t know about that/can’t be bothered to fill out the form

Bloody stupid night for Football, everyone hated Monday nights and the NRL said “ The fans don’t want Monday nights and the NRL have listened”.......they did, and changed Monday to Thursday.

Both are death times , impossible to get numbers to.

5850 at best

Thursday night is a tough night to get a crowd but better than the stupid 6pm Friday game.
That should go and bring back Monday night footy.
They are all just tv time slots anyway, not designed to get a crowd but it's a poor look especially at the concrete jungles.
I reckon 6 - 7 will be about it.

6-7. Man that’s not gunna be a good look at all. Still no line up for anything at halftime.

hopefully more, after reading this on LU.......My tip: Capable of finishing the round inside the top four should other results go their way, look for the Sea Eagles to make a big mark in front of a small crowd.

I’ll be attending and I’ve roped in 6 mates plus their kids.

Hopefully if there are enough kids they will look after each other and I can drink beers and watch the game. Maybe even yell a swear word at Benji when my kids are rolling down the back of the hill on cardboard.
