Thoughts On Michael Bani at Fullback

Can anyone answer this.

Has Michael Bani ever played fullback?

I think he would attack the line better than Robbo and could provide better options in attack.

Personally I think Robbo is better suited to the wing than to fullback.

What does everyone else think.

I think he needs more defensive confidence, but I think it could be successful

It could be worth a try. Does anyone know if he can jump or if he has had any success at competing for high kicks.

Dan I think its not so much confidence but I do know what you mean, at times I think he can be in two minds but I put it down to being able to read the game and make split minutes decision and having confidence in the guy next to him, not always come off the wing.

Remember fullback is totatally different to be out on the wing and you need to be able to read and anticipate what the other side might do. I have seen him defuse some corker bombs and hasn't let to many get away. I would like to see him get a run at fullback if we don't have anyone in the lower grades to bring through just yet.

I just think the confidence will come with experience, but it may be too early to gamble with him there

Just two more weeks without Stewart and Wolfman. Quite soon some of our backline dilemmas will be over.

Bani over Wolfman IMO

Just had my own questions answered. the official site has Michale Bani's profile as wing/fullback. I'm sold give the kid a go.

Nicci your right though can't wait for snake to come back, just hope mentally his up to it.

It's okay, i'll have a chat with him.

I just think given another 5 games under his belt Bani will be the whole package and his pace will score and save tries, he is one fast unit

Wolfman really impressed me last year. I guess his successes are fresher in my mind as Bani has had little time on the field. Besides, I like crazy guys with pirate beards.

its his defensive reads that worry me and Lyon is not impressing me in that department at the moment either...bring back bell

Bani's preferred position is fullback. I've been an advocate of moving him there whenever Snake is out for quite a while. Robbo is an outstanding winger. Leave him on the wing.

Ok I say lets try him next week against the panthers

me too.
didn't see the warriors game but the problems out wide defensively have more to do with loss of bell, reshuffling of centres, and generally the performance defensively across the line.
bani needs some more gametime at top level but he's been around and I think he's up for it. addresses the lack of stewart's attacking input better than robbo, who is better value on the wing....

wolfman v bani? bani for mine

Bani's was Manly's most exciting performance of the day. His pace off the mark created opportunities out of nothing.  IMO Robbo's a specialist winger & Bani could play a number of positions, wing, fullback, centre, (maybe even 5/8th sometime down the track?). Worth a move whilst Snake's out.
