Things I would like to see in Round Three

Composure and sustained pressure and tactics from our captain, halfback and most experienced player

Purpose in the middle. Running and tackling hard - a fundamental of league we are just not doing

The 1% ers - we look like a team waiting for it to happen rather than making it happen. Some “want” would go a long way

Some semblance of a coached gameplan

Jake turbo having an impact - he had a much bigger impact and was a much better player under Barrett

Some fire in the belly and a rousing win

The compressed defence only works if you have good line speed,Penrith do it very well first 3 or 4 tackles then they back off ,top sides can consistently do it,which is a reason we struggle against them and also the reason we generally beat the bottom sides ,or wingers scored heaps of tries but towards the backend of last year the lower sides went back to a slide defence which worked.Dogs will start with a compressed line but Doubt they can keep it up and move to a slide defence which will make more room in the middle
If we get on a roll early and dominate in the forwards, say for the first 10min. I can see us really spreading our wings (Eagle wings that is) and shrugging of that straight jacket that's been on us for the last 2 wks, as we rack up a sizable score on the hapless doggies.

Mostly I think I just want to see players helping each other and putting their hands up to do something. Saab is getting smashed and there is no one back there to help him. Then Harper gets smashed the next play from a dummy half run because there is nobody else anywhere near the ball. No effort, no structure. And this is two minutes into the game - not after 65 minutes when you might expect fatigue to have kicked in.
That’s a good point .So often you see Saab , Garrick, Parker, and Harper doing the hit outs from inside our 20 and then the forwards walking back watching them instead of getting back and getting in and saying this is mine

We should be kicking early for our wingers - particularly Saab while running Tom up the middle as a decoy.
The cross field kick, or the down field kick to Saab is about our only trick shot as it is. It's already overdone. Much like the 5 tackles bomb to his corner when we are in the 20m zone.

Our ball players are playing as individuals and if they do not know what we discuss here ,it will be a long season .I would rather we kick 4 times in a game between the first to the fourth tackle for Saab or Garrick than the 5 hit ups and kick straight down the oppositions throat all game .

The kicks for Saab works when the fullback was in the line ,we are kicking from our 30/40m after 5 tackles any earlier they will be starting there set's on halfway

We have the second worst attack in the league
We have the second worst defense in the league (with the last team playing more games)
We are only 1 of 4 teams yet to win this season
We've been literally flogged in 5 of our last 6 games
Our bench rotation by the coach is sub par
Our team selections are despicable
Our attack from dummy half is nonsensical (and running game)
We have the slowest play the ball speed in the entire NRL (proven statistically)
We are FAR too flat in attack
Our recruitment has been abysmal
Des systems (2 small men on bench, half playing hooker, sidewards attack etc etc etc) isn't working
Our attitude, effort areas, intensity is the worst in the league. We are SLOW (at everything)
We are playing well below the quality of the roster (that's Des to fix)
We start the game like we've already been playing 2 hours straight (completely unfit)
Dogs have the third best defense in the league. We have no points in us (that bodes poorly)
We have a 72 point points diff between us and the top teams (in TWO bloody games !)

These are things I think we need addressed and improved

Things I would like to see for game three:

1. Forwards running hard from kickoff to set a strong foundation early
2. Halves create a repeat set
3. Tom running with some enthusiasm
4. Defensive line speed
5. Straight passes from Crocker
I’d say this was a 3.5/5

Still need to work on our defensive structures and forwards really need to step up. I can’t wait for Aloia to return, imo Tapau needs to be dropped to get some hunger back in his game.
