The Tim Cleary Mega Thread

On the manly website, the following statement has been released.

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles CEO Tim Cleary and Head of Football Bob Fulton have today agreed on a clear pathway forward for their working relationship in the best interests of the Club.

Cleary and Fulton had a lengthy meeting with the owners of the Sea Eagles, Rick and Scott Penn, today to discuss several issues that have arisen over the past few days.

Chairman Scott Penn said the outcome of the meeting was very positive news for the Club.

“It was important that everyone had the opportunity to discuss their views, resolve any differences of opinion and create a new pathway for the future. I am delighted that both Bob and Tim have cleared the air and have committed to actively working together to take the Sea Eagles to the next level,’’ Scott Penn said.
What's the next level?. Second worst team?.

This will do anything but fix the issue, next week they'll be going at it again. This needs action not a good old sweeping under the carpet, poor move

There is a lot or rain about tonight, wondering how long before there is a leak.

Funny you should say that... I managed to track down a copy of the first draft of the press release. Not sure who wrote it though..

"This is a message for all Manly fans who are not related to the Penns or Fultons.

Today there was a meeting between the most important people in the club.

As sausage roll eating dummies, you wouldn't understand the details so I'll dumb it down for you. The people in charge at Manly are much better and smarter than you, they know what they are doing, and they all getting along like sluts at an orgy.

We therefore request that you all acknowledge on social media that 2017, like 2016 before it, is shaping up to be a huge success.

Of course I don't read social media because it is a passing fad (just like the rest of the internet), but apparently some of you irrelevant ****knuckles are communicating on the Facesook and by Tweeting like a bird.

Speaking of birds, I just saw a good sort, so it's time to sign off."

Thanks for the feedback Scott.
Apologies Mave, I didn't mean it to sound so harsh, it's just that it is ludicrous to suggest they have sunk $$$millions into Manly just so they could possibly, maybe buy the LC site at some point.

The reality is that the Directors of the LC had a fiduciary duty to sell to the highest bidder and if they didn't then they should have been prosecuted. That means either they did sell to the highest bidder, in which case there is nothing untoward about the deal or they did the wrong thing and the authorities have failed to act. I can't believe the warring factions of the time wouldn't have referred it to the authorities if there was even a sniff of wrongdoing.

Hey I want Fulton to stay. He saved this club almost two years ago by at least bringing in some potential stars of the future. And the money available was very limited given back end contracts and the Matai-Stewart issue which has been hampering us since the beginning of 2016. By 2018 we'll be back on the rise. I just want Fulton to know the limits of his purview, and to stop thinking this is his realm. He's got a job, and when he does it, he gets things moving. But we needed a strong people manager like Cleary to step in and set the parameters. Fulton needs to swallow his pride a little and get on with saving Manly within the limits of his intended role.

That's a good level headed response. At the end of the day Bob has had so much to do with our rich history and culture that it would be unfair to simply side with the new CEO because we've lost some games of football. I tend to think of the all the premierships he has been involved in at the club and blood is thicker than water; this guy is one of us and obviously cares deeply for the club.

I have reservations about the way he hands out jobs to his relatives but if the worst thing he does is try and look after his own then so be it. I hope he accepts his position and let's the CEO do his job but I am going to stop short of wishing anything but the best for one of our club legends.

The back ended contracts have been hampering us since long before 2016 (eg. Choc on $900k). I think Tooves bore the brunt of the back ended contracts fiasco, or at least his fair share of it. That's why it's so disappointing he never got a shot to build his own team.

My apologies, can't see the delete option on my phone...

Meh, that's ok man (no apologies needed) I forget that people use their phones. It'd be harder to see 'thread tools' - delete thread etc.

We shall overcome!

(like tim and Bozo)
