Yep -

If they wouldn't offer Lodge more than 150k then they aren't offering Taukeiaho 400k.
Would not at all surprise me if he’s on not much more than the minimums with an option based on performance.

Other teams were hardly knocking down the door to sign him

Exactly what I was thinking… I’m guessing that figure was just made up from thin air to exaggerate how bad our recruitment team is. As far as I can tell there is no source that confirms he signed a $400k deal. I’m sure he wanted that kind of money but manly, Roosters & Bulldogs all rejected that from the articles I found

agree ... you would think that his contract would contain a couple of KPI's, that if achieved would trigger upgrades ...
Yep - would assume his contract would be similar to the one Brown signed 12 months earlier -minimum or close to, then incentives, plus consideration to upgrade the contract if your form demands it.

Really positive. Saw a delivery of around 45 garden chairs coming from Warriewood Flower Power that were being delivered straight to the training facility.

Now we just need a sprint coach.

The administration and operational structure is smooth functioning and financial viable. This includes the front office, which manages the business aspects such as marketing, sponsorship, and community engagement. Tony Mestrov has done a great job overseeing the club's operations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and financial sustainability.

The front office now appears to be aligned and performing collectively.

Supporting the players is a comprehensive coaching team, led by Seibold, who has assistant coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, and medical staff recruited.

The playing squad is similar to 2024, a few changes with some promising younger players signed, think the team will play a similar style of attacking football which is the core strength of the squad, missing a dominant front rower and an edge forward or two may present opportunities for some younger players if injuries occur.

Lots of positives at the club particularly with the future player signings and maintaining a competitive team for 2025.

Good post @Dion. I am hoping Taukehaio steps up as that dominant middle we have been desperately missing since Addin / Tapau days. Also hoping Simkin / Croker / Tevaga strike up a strong partnership for that 9 position. Love to see young Patolo compete with Ben T for that edge position. Also very interested to see Tommy Talau given a run in that left edge role in the trials. When you think about it he spends most of his time out there anyway when he plays centre so should not be a big shift???

Yes the foundations are well and truly set for a title in the near future, the forward depth is a concern for this season, hopefully no long term injuries and minimal suspensions.

I think there could be a surprise with the left edge come mid season, out of all the possible options I fancy Dunford a chance if Ben T doesn’t lock the position down.

Would still think a bit light for an edge [ Talau ] apart from i would also expect , no real desire to play there .
Have shown with the likes of Dylan Walker and instances in other club combinations that converting to a 13 role for certain outside or utility backs is not too much of a transition if the application and ability is there .
Would be an interesting scenario if say he was at 13 and Burbo on an edge and a centre for instance needed replacing for whatever time in a match
More like Burbo would move there instead of Talau and just based on position and playing priorities

I don't really see Sio coming back to NRL and being a dominant front row force but he may well be a big and very positive influence on the rest of the squad in terms of a tougher hard-edged mentality. Brown brought a little of that last year and it noticeably boosted the team at times.
Manly needs more aggression overall (not stupid cheap shot aggression but just aggressive footy mentality, Watmough Matai style).

Manly pack certainly showed the necessary level of aggression and sustaining it against the likes of the Roosters , Panthers and Storm early on but regretfully fell away at critical times in many other games .
Brown and Alioia definitely fell away a bit , Nathen not on big coin and just got too battered by the latter stages but certainly need more and game time from Josh who of course is on decent money .
Bully , good value but not in the enforcer mode , Toff is capable of good things when not injured , Lodge just could not get to that better level in the main and when available .
Paseka , Haumole and jake the mainstays and Burbo thereabouts but ideally could do with a bit of a boost with the likes of maybe Tavega , Sio , Patolo or even Chee Kam

Good summary

Agree with @Dion Johnson and @Woodsie on most of their points

My personal favourite is that we have heard abnrely a THING about our club in the media other than the usual 'will DCE retire' and will Turbo be fit etc etc. No off field incidents of note, no coaching dilemmas, no board room scuffles.... gte as FAR under the radar as possible, churn out a great off season with minimal (hopefully) injuries.... and get stuck in to some trial games

Turbo stays fit = we make top 4 IMO

THAT would be great progress.

Premiership in the 2020's.... that is the ultimate aim.

No Schuster either. He's already back in the headlines for South's, and his decline last pre-season did no one at Manly any good. Will hopefully be a quiet off-season for the first time in a long time.

I am feeling optimistic we have a good squad. My concern is that we may have not done enough to bolster our forwards and improve our ruck speed. I know we made some money ball signings with a couple of ageing forwards. We have more hookers than some places of ill repute.but from what I can see no revelations except for maybe the young fella we signed from the bulldogs but he is at best a year or two away… nevertheless fingers and toes are crossed for a big season ahead…

It’s clear where we are deficient but we simply don’t have the funds to “ go large “ to fix them.

We simply have to “ fix it from within “.

I’m still confident

The squad might just have a little more depth and balance this season to help with last years end of season slump.

They showed real growth to make the semis. But the consistent run they went on took its toll.

The top teams are seasoned at playing for a full season. But our boys haven't been a top team. There is great learnings from how our men went the last few games to improve upon.

I'm liking the mix of experience and youth in the squad a bit more this year.

It's a year that could go either way, unless the entire team all take a big step forward together.
