The Sea Eagles’ blueprint badly exposed the Eels... and re-opened painful wounds

When our attack is on song it's the best in the comp.
Our left edge attack is as good as Souths at their best imo. The shape is so good and attention needed on Tom is just opening up other options for others. Schu on the left in 6 was bloody great, would keep him one wider.

We now have lethal attacking options. Turbo, DCE and Schuster causing mayhem for the opposition defence. This is giving all of our players around them space and opportunities. I was over the moon with Schuster's composure on Sunday. However what really stood out for me was the teams toughness, determination and grit. If they can keep this mind set we can have serious success.

Gee I loved sending that link to my Parramatta mate, his nickname is spoonsy. He's hurting right now but he'll be ok because he is very used to it

Great analysis of our attack on Sunday and how we tore apart the eels defence

When you watch Parker’s 1st try and Garrick’s try over and over on fox you see how well constructed they were, thing that impressed me most was our bodies in motion, we had good decoy runners in motion on both those tries, work off the ball played a huge roll in both those tries.

Parker’s first try, Paseka runs at the defence first off the ruck, Marty does the same second off, then Keppie, each decoy engaged the defence and held the middle up momentarily, slowing their slide and creating space on the edge, the rest was silky.

Garricks try was magic again, sippers runs first decoy back towards the middle with intent, that held their slide up again, then keppie runs one off, then Lawton, Parker run inside, outside decoys beautifully either side of shoe who again played it perfectly, silky ball to Tom who catches and passes in one motion, beautiful to watch.

The common theme bodies in motion, balls out the back, Jake to shoe to Turbo, nice!

Great thing was we didn't have to rely on the great Saab Harper turbo long range tries.
Which has been destroying teams lately.
Parra did well to not give us much space out on that edge.
But then Garrick and Parker stepped up to the plate and bamboozled em.

In retrospect it did look like they had loaded up their left edge to combat our attack out that way (which includes DCE), and didn't do much about their right because our left wasn't seen as a strong attacking side. But they never figured on Schuster playing like a veteran, Tom also going left, or as you say Garrick and Parker stepping up to the plate and bamboozling them. I mean, Ferguson is a former Origin and test winger and Garrick made him look 2nd rate and slow.

Reuben Garrick, much maligned in these hallowed pages for various reasons, made 7 test and 9 Origin veteran Blake Ferguson look 2nd rate and slow. Just think about that.

Reubs is quicker than people generally give him credit for and he showed that on Sunday, surprising a few including Greg Alexander on Fox who openly said he didn't know Garrick was that quick (for those who saw him at his peak, you'll remember Brandy was no slouch either). Reubs is about the 3rd quickest in our first grade squad only behind Volvo and Turbo. We should use his pace more often out wide because its a much better use of his pace than just 10 metre runs at the corner.

For mine, what made Parker's opening try happen was that the chain passes all basically hit their mark. No one had to really stop to reach for the ball. All were able to take hold on the run and move it on as efficiently. The crucial ones were Turbo taking Shoe's no looker on the run without breaking stride, and Parker being able to do the same.

The play could have broken down or been stopped by the defense if any of the passes hadn't hit their mark.

The only thing I will add and I said this in the game day thread (in response to another comment about it) ... playing on the left, Brad Parker needs to learn how to carry the ball in his left hand and how to fend with his right. The way he carried the ball under his right arm shows he's a more natural right centre with a natural left hand fend.

wouldn't that be lovely! I'd like to see that.

I agree mate the passing, the timing, was all perfect, poetry in motion, it was kind of what I’m meant by saying the rest was silky, the whole thing was executed to perfection and when watching it over and over on replay like that, you can pick up just how good both tries really were.
Surely Parker can correct the ball carrying side of things without to much drama, pretty simple to work on and fix one would think, but you are spot on about it, being able to fend off the inside defender should be automatic in FG, regardless of his preferred side. I imagine that would be pointed out to him, yes!

with a lot of help from Josh the Schu

Does credit go to our attacking coach? Is that Monnas? Is he the new Twent? (can't even stomach that joke myself really)

Think that Steve Hayles [ ex Black Town coach ] is still in the coaching mix along with Monnas and Chad Randell and no doubt all have a role along with Des . Has taken a while and some better playing personal but of course hard to think how bad the general attack was a couple of months ago and before the seriously good attacking structures now . Just curious comparing Monnas with the " new" Twent and not the old " Twent ', testing my comprehension ability there

Sorry Al, a bit vague this morning. I meant that whoever is our attacking coach would be hailed (unless it's Steve Hayles then Hayled! Stop it BE, just stop it!!) as the next Trent Barrett - the super attacking assistant coach. Barrett himself will never change.
